people get satisfaction out of automating something that sucks, there's an entire genre of that kind of game.
the crafting in factorio sucks ass, it's the point of the game.

death stranding makes you walk vast distances and then every upgrade you get streamlines that, it's the same thing.

Well in factorio the point is to make efficient automation to hit goals.
In DS2 it's because the game is shit and you want to bypass as much of the gameplay as possible.
