AI genuinely has its uses for programming, that's why you often see programmers as the ones supporting it or being indifferent to it. It still has yet to sell itself to artists/composers because the people developing it haven't really bothered to understand their workflows yet to develop any tools that sell them on it and are more interested on trying to sell it to normies as a "wow look you can be a professional too at a click of a button!" meme machine which comes off as cringe as fuck to anyone that knows better.

It should be used as a search engine to help programmers gather resources to tackle a given problem. Only because conventional search engines fucking suck at this. It should not be used to write any sort of actual code. Especially when it has a bad tendency to flip out and delete your entire codebase.

AI programming is basically an automation of stealing code off github or stackoverflow or whatever. It works great until you need to debug something or until you need to solve a problem that someone else hasn't already solved and documented online. In the hands of a competent programmer it's nothing special. In the hands of someone who doesn't know how to code it's a recipe for disaster because they don't understand either the inputs or the outputs and will be completely helpless when the code needs to be fixed or scaled up/down or altered in some specific way.

So which is in it? Is it a good tool for coding or is it impossible to use in coding. It's a shittier google search to try and find code to steal with the bonus of potentially stealing copywritten code, being intentionally designed to get shit wrong, and if allowed to it will steal your code to perpetuate this cycle.
It's not practical for any actual serious code project, and at best will get you the same result as pulling a foss codebase into your project.
It is quite literally, entirely pointless for anyone who actually knows what they're doing.
Especially in game development.
