Basically this. Level design in mountain area felt strangely off compared to other areas and then game just quickly ends.
Also not a fan how game implies to have the Conductor and DJ Grooves paths to choose from but it's clearly half assed on the penguin's side.
More polish and consistency is all the sequel would need (with probably slighly more developed story) I legit had more fun with it than with Mario 64 and the controls were smooth like butter.

Train Rush is my absolute favorite track in the entire game (second place being dead bird studio and third the Empress theme) but I had such fun with DJ's flamboyant persona compared to rather run of the mill snappy Scottish bird
