My parents never were like this. I could do whatever when I was sick. That being said they always made me go to the school if I was not having fever or was not straight up throwing up in the morning. There were few times when I was feeling under the weather in the morning just to go back from school early later after the fewer rising and school nurse sending me home.

Now that I think about it, having to get a doctors note because you're sick is a terrible idea. You're telling me I'm too sick to leave the house and risk contaminating people at school/workplace so instead I have to go out and contaminate elsewhere to prove it? Sorry you came in about your ear infection, have a cold too!
The last place a sick person wants to be is sitting in line around a bunch of other miserable sick people anyway.

Me and my friend used to walk to school, took us half an hour but our tutor would always mark us present knowing we turn up late by around 5 mins. Some mornings we would just walk to the nearby shops, get snacks and then walk back home and just play games all morning then go to school for the afternoon. Still ended up with 100% attendance thanks to our tutor. You were a legend Mr Brown, thank you.
