Holy FUCK this game is terrible. I was gaslit all throughout the 90s and 2000s that this game is a masterpiece yet its one of the worst games ive ever played. Did tendie millenials just never play doom, quake and half life?

Goldeney has the best campaign out of Doom, Quake and Half-Life. Only the middle section of Half-Life compares in quality. Please for the love of go tell me you're at least not using Honey1.1 and don't have lookahead set.

I feel sorry for zoomoids who have grown up accustomed to modern games and can no longer enjoy old games. Not to the fault of the game design but to arbitrary limitations such as fps and graphics.

I played all of those and one you didn't even name was Duke Nukem 3D is the only one I'd say comes close to Goldeneye. Cope shitter.

You had to be there. It was mind-blowingly impressive at the time and the 4 player multiplayer was the main attraction at every party for years. It was a better time than everyone sitting alone at home playing online like we have nowadays

The Nintendo 64 actually got tons of shooters, incluiding Doom 64, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake...

The objective based mission design and the way enemies reacted to your shots just made Goldeneye feel way more advanced than anything else at the time.

Goldeneye is not a good game but it is infinitely better than that transgenderist sloppa Perfect Dark

I did play Doom and Quake, and Goldeneye was significantly better at the time.
Might not seem like much now, but actual tangible environments, realistic behaving human enemies, and varied and interesting level objectives were really cool at the time.

Goldeneye was never comparable to classic PC shooters. It came at a time when classics like Doom 2, Heretic, etc., were already getting really old, and even "newer" games like Quake and Duke 3D were already old news because things were evolving so quickly at that time.
Goldeneye came on a different platform, in a different reality, and people took it as a different shooter. I've never seen anyone compare it to Doom 2, because the gameplay is totally different.
And yes, Goldeneye is kind of shallow and simplistic. It's a decent experience, though. It just doesn't have the qualities that games like Doom 2 and Quake have. Goldeneye mods can't elevate the experience, while Doom 2 and Quake mods are often better than modern games.
