Is the Demon Soul's remake really that soulless and not worth playing? Should I emulate the PS3 version instead? Don't know where to find the PS3 version for pc though.

remake has QoL, the original hasn't aged well in many aspects.

All the elements in which the original hasn't aged are present in the demake

Yes, it is.
>Should I emulate the PS3 version instead?
Yes, you should.
>Don't know where to find the PS3 version for pc though.
That's a (You) problem.

the demake butchers the art-directing, world design, gameplay, voice acting, and soundtrack. All while making the game casual-tier slop a la ER.

It's an Amazon Prime Live-action adaptation of video games.

There are a few nice things about the remake
>Very pretty magic
>Dragon's fire attacks are much easier to dodge
>At least one new shortcut
>Rusted Iron Ring for Swamp of Defilement (good luck getting it though)
>A few weapon redesigns go really hard (Knight Sword)
Although the main reason I play remake is that I can't get online to work on my emulator. If I could I would play the original more.

if you're asking which to play, that means you already have a ps5
try them both and see for yourself

It's 2025. Piracy has won. You can even find it on google at this point.

>Is the Demon Soul's remake really that soulless and not worth playing?
No it's actually quite good. it's worth it alone just for all the QoL added.

>Should I emulate the PS3 version instead?
No. Despite what Mustardracefags will tell you PS3 emulation is still and will likely forever be a joke. You'd be better off just booting up your old PS3 if you want to play the original.

>Don't know where to find the PS3 version for pc though.
You can thank Nintendo for that.

The Demon's Souls demake has exactly 0% of the Fromsoft magic and charm that the original kinopiece has.

games don't age. it's the same game in 2025 as it was in 2009. actually it's the remake that hasn't aged well if you look it as a freakish botox version of the original.

Pick whichever movie you like that serves as a pioneer and exemplar of a genre but has since been surpassed. That's Demon's Souls. The problem with the series as a whole is that not a single goddamn one of the games is definitively better than the rest because they all find their own ways to shit the bed, so you can apply this statement to any one of them: it's the best in many ways and the worst in many others. The remake butchers the art style and music, but it's fundamentally the same game. It's up to you if you hate it enough to go through the effort of emulating the PS3 version.

Based Fitgirl mention. Honestly, it's wild that some anons act like getting RPCS3 working is some ancient arcane ritual when the Fitgirl repack is literally plug and play. Gamers will do eight hours of troubleshooting to avoid five seconds of googling.

The remake adds a lot of environmental clutter and lighting/magic effects that I like. However, the majority of the redesigns, the uncanny facial animations, and music remixes are just not great. Also >PS5.
For an example of bad redesign, look at the dull gold armor set before and after, but the "demaster" compilation image was just posted.

The original is easy to set up if you follow the wiki page for it on RPCS3, and you'll have a nice high res UI and 60fps to boot. I don't know why you would use a repack for this like others are saying unless you're actually illiterate or mentally disabled. I recommend watching a youtube video to set up online play.

The original sucks ass but it's not worth buying a PS5 for the Remake. Game is mid as shit worst kn the series by far. Some nice concept that could have been ported to later games though, like the Dark and Light system stuff.

It's a shit game. If you have a shit foundation you'll get a shitty remake.

Gameplay-wise you'll get the same experience in either version but the atmosphere is pretty off in the remake. Since you have to get a PS5 and spend $70 to play the new one anyway, it's a better idea to just emulate unless you're very bad at figuring emulation out and you already have a PS5 and a ton of disposable income.

>t's worth it alone just for all the QoL added.
List some QoL the remake added aside from improving the load times (which is not an issue while emulating on PC anyways).

I think it's a pretty impressive example of missing the point of virtually everything in the game, aesthetically. Everything is now pockmarked with greebles and flames and vines to show off their new engine; all the animations as needlessly flashy and annoying; all the designs, from armor to enemies, are over designed and do not even remotely resemble what they are supposed to be; the music (which I think despite how bad everything else is clocks in as the single worst offender) is so ridiculous and over the top that it just burns the whole forest down.

These are the devs that changed the banners in Latria from yellow to red. They have zero aesthetic sense.

Then you watch interviews with the devs and it makes complete sense as to why the game is the way it is. Sony gave them carte blanche to do whatever they want because the Remake is a tech demo for the PS5. It's even more vile because unlike say RE4 Remake the DeS Remake is an attempt to replace the original entirely, not act as an updated version.

Disgusting remake from a disgusting developer and published by a disgusting company.
