If i am to level serious critique it's that there's no real recoil. If there was then you wouldn't even think of sliding around like that. I don't think we can ever fix the idea of movement negatively effectively recoil control without pissing off the casuals though. They would accuse you of wanting a milsim, even though there's ways of doing a nice balance.

It was never this egregious and at the very least the maps held on to the spirit of BF by being decently sized so they allowed for more types of encounters than infantry CQB.

This "BF was always like CoD" argument has become suspiciously prevalent after BF6 was announced too, almost like it's a concerted effort to combat what they knew would be the main complaint against the game.

If you consider spamming revive on people and dropping ammo/meds "teamplay"

Nah a lot of refractor era players believe that was the case from the moment Bad Company launched. It was console exclusive too, so there is some merit to them thinking Battlefield was CODified. I personally believe they somewhat got out of that terrible position around BF3 and BF4. But the stigma will always be there because DICE released a console exclusive game for the first one and the frostbyte engine in general.

I don't care about high mobility games but it's not what I wanted out of a Battlefield game. I always thought of Battlefield as a nice middleground between CoD's fast paced shootan and more realistic shooters. Now it's literally just CoD but with a different skin.

BF2 was way more erratic than COD before COD ever came close to what it is today.
BF2 had sprinting, rapid jumping and diving via going prone in mid-air. The originator of "dolphin diving."
COD2 in the same year still lacked sprinting, you could only go prone while your feet were on the ground (used to be the case for BF1942/Nam), and they had already clamped down any rapid jumping with COD1.
COD only allowed/allows crouch-jump, the first implementations of diving and sliding were canned actions while sprinting, made to mitigate the issue of the instantaneous dropshot, not as a mobility enhancement in themselves. There has always been more inertia in COD movement, movement generally a lot smoother despite whatever omnishit they have now.

Bullshit. Time and time again for more than twenty years, BattleFags use COD as their scapegoat, even though BF was more spastic first and has generally kept the spastic pace if not beat out COD most of the time since 2005.
The only thing in BF2 and 2142 that made infantry mobility not utter nonsense was the limited stamina (plus abysmal cones of fire which made diving prone to get any reasonable accuracy the first thing everyone did, exacerbating the dolphin diving). You could turn on a fucking dime and instantly accelerate to full sprint speed in BF2. The webms in this thread look no different than how BF2/BC2/BF3/4 played in regards to relative pace.

Whenever you jump, let go of your movement keys, and then press your "crouch toggle prone hold key" while up against a wall and midair, your legs clip into the wall and it shoots you forward to get out of it. The higher the server tickrate, the higher you go. It's called a rouzou, one of 4 movement techniques named after some French guy (the other three being zouzou, vouzou, and mouzou).
