Instead of X9 they should make a new series that takes place between X and Zero
Since by the time of X8 copyrobots would make everything different from before
They could take the series all the way to the elf wars

I'd just prefer a continuation of Maverick Hunter X, really. Would be a nice opportunity to unfuck some of the plot contrivances that plagued the series during the PS1 era, and more animated cutscenes would be kino.

Yeah, MHX was a good idea conceptually but they were honestly fucked from the outset because if they wanted to remake the series from scratch they HAD to start from X1 which is the only game in the franchise that doesn't need it whatsoever. So MHX1 just comes off as superfluous and dooms the rest right out of the gate.
Like >>717985494 said, it probably should've been Maverick Hunter X Chronicles with X1-3 or something to start but this was also the PSP two fucking decades ago, that was never going to happen.

megaman X can honestly only succeed if they return to hand drawn sprites and similar era music. There has been some nice attempts over the years, but it's the only way to truly save the series.

Megaman Zero and ZX kinda proved that point to me, it is the ONLY way. I hope they listen, but I'm not hopeful.

Really? I thought Zero was a huge success, but I will admit that I'm personally biased. I wasn't surprised ZX didn't do better, but I guess I've never heard anything but praise for both series here.

Maybe it's just dead, I don't know. Megaman X is genuinely one of my favorite games. I think it's a masterpiece. It's such a beautiful collection of things going right.
>tight controls
>great artstyle with excellent spritework
>some of the best music period
It kinda bums me out that the series never really found its footing. Megaman Zero was really peak, shame that it wasn't a success if that's truly the case. I figured they made four of them so it had to have done somewhat well

I'm baffled you guys still have hope for more Mega Man games. The last game we got, outside of gacha shit, was 2018 and before that was like 2011. Despite being one of the best selling MM games of all time, MM11 still wasn't enough to light a fire under Capcom's ass. They don't even consider Mega Man a relevant IP to their company anymore, it's all Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, etc. It's time to let go.
Anonymous No.717999348
>>717996639
Its only been almost 7 years. We had to wait 8 between MM10 and MM11.
But seriously though, I don't think Capcom is just gonna ignore it forever, the fact that they mention Megaman at all and say they still value him does mean something, and BN collection actually shocked them with how well it sold and they stated that they would take BN's success into consideration on how to handle Megaman moving forward.
We will see a new game, who knows what ot will be, it could be a new series altogether and not a sequel to any of the current series, only time will tell.
I still wish we could have known what the hell that big budget Rockman Taisen game was about, but its gotta be cancelled at this point.

I think MHX's only real sin was coming out for the PSP instead of the DS, larger market penetration on the latter. Same for Powered Up. DS had a conspicuous lack of traditional Mega Man games (ZX is a continuation of Zero and is the only Mega Man fare on the DS) and while hindsight is 20/20 they really didn't need the PSP's beefier specs to make Powered Up or MHX

Nope, make a sequel to Mega Man 11, call it Mega Man and Bass 2. Have it take place directly after Bass' ending in Power Fighters, then jump to a month later or whatever. We get to see the conversation between Wily and Zero from X4, only Bass is also there. Bass doesn't want Zero to be the one who defeats Mega Man, fights Zero, and loses. Wily, with Zero's assistance, creates 8 Robot Masters. Mega Man and Bass are forced to join forces to defeat Zero. Wily installed the Power and Speed Gears on Bass, but he uses them in a unique way.

I don't disagree. Using the DS as a launching point definitely would've been better in the long haul, but I can see the reason for it. You release the Zero games on GBA and everybody, and I do mean everybody, bitches about screen crunch and that the levels suffer for it. So you leave Inti to deal with the DS's slight upgrade to 4:3 hoping they'll learn their lesson (which they mostly do) and you focus on the new PSP with their 16:9 for the rest of your games that you're more confident in.
I completely understand where they're coming from, choosing the PSP. And like you said, hindsight is 20/20, but the DS probably would've been the better play.

The GTA game is gonna be the lynchpin that brings it all tumbling so hard nobody can put their head in the sand on it, mass layoffs and cancellations show a AAA crash is already in progress. Insomniac was already bitching at Playstation about the fucking enormity of Spider-Man 2's budget and having NO idea where 75% of the money for it went (most likely in an executive's pocket) because there is no amount of developer work that will ever make a game "look" like it had hundreds of millions of dollars poured into it, there is no story that will be "AAA budget", there is no gameplay that will be "AAA budget" (the sheer budget involved means you need to make it as bland and safe as possible to get enough sales to break even, let alone profit)

Executives became fucking obsessed with putting out the video game equivalent of inoffensive but not catchy or good job-training-video music under the belief that Lots Of Money in = Even More Lots Of Money out and the AAA crash is these LinkedIn retards being so sheltered that when it doesn't work that way they just force the issue and send their company hurtling into the fucking pavement
