KRAFTON claps back at Unknown Worlds, says they were about to do permanent damage to the IP
Literally who the fuck is in the wrong here?

>"Having sold the company, Cleveland and McGuire, who pocketed almost $200 million apiece from the sale, and Gill, who received $60 million, quickly lost interest in development Subnautica 2." Krafton representative states. "Cleveland and McGuire abandoned their roles as studio-wide game director and technical director to focus on their personal projects and quit making games for Unknown Worlds entirely. And Gill, who remained, focused on leveraging his operational control to maximum the earnout payment, rather than develop a successful game.

>"For his part, McGuire started 'working on initiatives that fall outside of [the company's] main development activities,' stating that his priority was to 'try something that feels personally meaningful to me.' Gill remained as Unknown Worlds' president and CEO. But without the original creators, Subnautica 2 suffered serial developmental delays under his watch."

>"As Unknown Worlds' sole stockholder, Krafton had invested $500 million in the success of not only Subnautica 2, but also Subnautica 3, Subnautica 4, and any other future Subnautica franchise product," the filing states. "To prevent the key employees from permanently damaging Unknown Worlds' most valuable IP, the company itself, and its goodwill with its fans, and following conduct by the key employees that plainly gave rise to termination for cause, Krafton terminated the key employees, consistent with the terms of both their employment agreements and the EPA." In another words Krafton felt that Subnautica 2 isn't ready for the light of day, and the former Unknown Worlds bosses were willing to put it out anyway just to collect a cheque.

Sounds like they overpaid for a franchise that had no legs because they were fucking stupid and when they realized it they tried to cut their losses and spin it as anything but them making a dumb purchase.

Does that mean we're getting Natural Selection 3?

Both parties are at fault. Devs wanted to shit out an early access game and fix it later. Krafton wanted to welch on the bonus to save money. How well Krafton defined the bonus requirements and milestones will determine if they settle or not.
Anonymous No.717984931 >>717987708
Cleveland is a leftist retard who already did permanent damage to the franchise by firing the sound designer and releasing below zero. I fully believe Krafton in this case.

Tencent, always. They probably had no intention to give devs any kind of bonus in the first place, San Fran faggotry or not.

Its a weird spot, its obvious they would not care anymore after selling and would probably be very annoying to replace creative leads

They always act shocked when the house of cards collapses. Like bro, you made a deal with the devil, and now you're crying that he's not playing fair? Classic gook panic mode activated. Just wait until Tencent rebrands the game with a battle pass and anime waifus.

Krafton is trying to break into the Western market not just with PUBG. I suppose after Callisto Protocol flop, they'd figure that survival game like Subnautica is the way to do it and the co op aspect will make it even bigger
