The trap tool from your cat is pretty handy against Rajang. Either way he's easily the hardest monster type to kill, excluding Fatalis and that one cunt with the dps check of course, so don't feel too bad.

Get Evade Extender 2/Evade Window 5 and bait the slam and grab moves.
Always jump towards Rajang when it does the 5 exploding lightning balls attack
Get Mind's Eye so your attacks won't bounce
Get 20 Thunder Res and always slot Flash Bomb in case one of you got molested

Just build a dodge invicibility frame armor, maybe put evade lenght as well depending on your weapon.
