Too much stress over things you could/should be doing instead. As a kid, video games were something you could just do indefinitely. As an adult, every hour is precious if you want to get to bed at a reasonable hour for work. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc

As you get older you experience time quite differently. So replaying a game three times in a year does not feel the same as an adult. Separating those 2nd and 3rd plays by a year or more is effective.

I'm just better at games now than I used to be, despite hardly ever playing them now. I download megaman X and gain ground and such games, play them, and then beat them without ever hardly dying or anything with the challenges just not being hard anymore.
I'm not searching for hard games or anything, I don't even like them too hard, but many games just feel easy and made for kids because they literally were made for kids in arcades or with their home gaystation.

When you play videogames as an adult, there is always a voice in your brain, subconsciously quiet or annoyingly loud, that tells you that you could be doing something better with your time. You could be making your money for your future, you could be making lifelong friends, you could be finding a gf or wife, you could be learning a new skill, you could be working out, you could go visit your parents or grandparents before they die, etc.
You can try to silence this voice but once you're a certain age it's impossible to ever fully silence it. That's why people find it harder to lose themselves in media.

I had that during my NEET period but once you get your shit together it stops being a thing, do your chores first, gym is in the early morning btw, you're not gonna be playing games at 6am, "do your homework" first and then play video games.
The idea that you only have 1hr free is also a meme, I can easily play games for 4hrs straight on a week day and the entire day on a saturday or sunday, if you have shit to do keep your laptop open on your desk and respond to emails and tickets while playing. Your GF shouldn't bother you either or you trained her poorly, just offer a Mario Kart or Mario Party game and she should leave you alone afterwards.
If you need to do repairs around the house do that instead of playing games, if it takes the entire day then so be it, you'll play games another day, don't run away from responsibilities because that's how you end up with that annoying voice in your head nagging you and you won't enjoy your games.
