I hated the Mistress of the Night fight I just finished.
I died fifteen times almost exclusively to her fireball attack. She kept throwing it out while I was in the process of hitting her, and since I was so close, all four would hit me and insta-kill me.
Worst part was that the fireballs always come out directly towards you regardless of her animation or your position relative to her.
What's that mean? It means if your were directly behind her attacking and she launched the attack, it would come out of her back and into your face.
I got killed by noxious fireball farts over and over again.
That and the constant retreating was annoying. I hate bosses that run away.

Everything with multiple projectiles from the same source hits really hard if you hug the source.
Works for your weapon skills and magic too, this is why you can melt some bosses in seconds with Flamebringer or Lotus Soulflame.
As for the fox waifu, she lifts up her left hand with purple lantern before that attack so so there's a tell.
I think there's a faint bell sound too but I am not completely sure.

Oh, there's a tell for sure. Not a super great one for how strong the attack can hit for, though. She takes a hit from her pipe is the main tell, but it's about half a second before the attack comes out.
The big problem is the fact that it can come out behind her, and the tell isn't quite long enough to account for your own animation length. I'd get caught mid combo and, even when I saw the tell, couldn't move because I was animation locked.
Eventually resorted to pokes during her safe attacks like when she winds up her kick super long or blows cold wind.

Zhao Yun is actually surprisingly hard to brick, in a fast run I basically missed him for the whole of act I and II and I still could do his quest and boss fight.

The only crucial point left for you is that when you get to Reverent Rise again at the end of the 4th chapter (not when you meet them in Annalum at the beginning of the chapter) make sure to talk to Fang Yao and get the notes from her before going inside and talking to He Youzai. Chapter 5 is quite barren, you do that to get DoO then the last boss and that's basically all there is to it.
In Chapter 4 there's a branch with Honglan 2 and Bo Magus that's missable, so before getting to Reverent's Rise make sure you've done them (they're at Tang Palace). But I think that even if you finish chapter 4 you can still go back and do them.

Why was I never able to interact with the Taoist in this camp? The only thing left for me to do, at this stage, is to speak with the storyteller to get teleported away. However, I visited this tent as soon as I could and yet there has never been any interaction. I still have the Broken Token in my inventory

Equip the Twin Bandits. Their weapon skill has a deflect like Sword Counter, though I don't think you can hold it to block with reduced damage like the Long Sword. Apparently your weapon speed is increased after deflecting. Put Blade Master on your discipline which also makes your attacks faster and then just mash like crazy. It's a six hit weapon combo, with upgrades the fourth, fifth and sixth hits can Clash. I believe chaining the combo string together actually skips the first hit to immediately go into the 2nd hit, so only 2 attacks don't clash. In your first string you can also replace the first hit with a dashing attack if you sprint first, which can clash.

For instance, they all have an approach attack for when you're far away, which if you than learn how to dogde, makes for an easy loop.
Frost is also really strong and is like bleed from Elden Ring, doing a percent chunk of damage when it procs.
So, for instance, you can keep your distance from Bo Sorcerer, she does he beam sword attack and ground smash everytime.
You can use ice masks spells after she lands as she stands still for a few seconds here, which makes proccing frostbite easy.
Rinse and Repeat.

Guys, it was already easy. Dark Souls and Elden Ring were easy too.
Any "difficult game" that allows you to grind levels or create builds to tackle specific challenges is not actually challenging.
You can grind to overcome bosses, you can make cheese builds. You can explore to get all sorts of buffs like flask enhancements and weapon upgrade material.
This has always been the truth of Souls-likes. The difficulty is self-served by imposing restrictions on what you'll use.
If you decide not to powerlevel, if you decide not to upgrade your healing, if you decide not to use the broken builds, than the game is hard, but that's only if you decide to challenge yourself.

The tiger has a similar attack too. They are not 1hit kills, you're being hit by multiple attacks because you're standing too close to their point of origin. If you take a step back and make a mistake at that distance, you'll get hit by like 2 at best and be fine. It's a bit like if the boss had a buzzsaw attack that kept spinning and you stood inside of it, the player is messing up their positioning.

Also to be clear there's nothing wrong with one shots if the game accounts for them. Which Wuchang does by giving the player lots of strong defensive options like Evasive Maneuver or any of the Alacrity spells that would have made anon live if he used them instead of dodging towards her.

You guys can shut up about slow wakeup from knockdowns. There's an issue due to an inherit problem with dodging on wuchang where the dodge/getup gives you "dodge frame" that negates the attack instead of iframes. Iframes voids all attacks during its duration while the dodge frame only prevents 1 hit. This makes rapid attacks, eat up the dodge frame in the first hit while the followup deals damage. The most obvious offender is Honglans spinning doublekick - if you dodge into it you'll always take the second hit. Since some bosses has rapid combos it's common that you end up taking 1-2 hits even if you time your wakeup perfectly.

It's a problem but not one that prevents the devs or thousands of other people from finishing the game so it's still just an issue of skill for anyone complaining about slow wakeup from knockdowns.

I don't even think the get up animation was the real culprit here. Know why people mash to get up against their better judgement? Because you get knocked down ALL THE FUCKING TIME in this game. 90% of boss attacks have the potential to suddenly grind the flow of the fight to a halt and leave you laying flat on your ass, EVEN MID COMBO ATTACKS. So yeah, eventually you bend to the game's intent and time your get up input correctly, but it's slow and not even particularly mechanically engaging. The only thing it does is fuck up your momentum.

Alright, got to the Refugee Camp. He Youzai wasn't there at the start. I had intentionally skipped the old man in Shu Sanctum and Doomwillow Beach, the first time I spoke was in the cave and he still asks you to join him in the Avian Marsh. Teleported from the camp shrine back to Hillswatch and now up to the start of Fang Yao's quest and she's still here, so going to the camp first doesn't break any quests it seems.

Regarding quest breaking, I skipped He Youzai completely in the Shaft. He and Fang Yao showed up in the teleport menu for being at the refugee camp now so I assume it's fine for the quest. I skipped them there though since I already have the shrine which was ahead of them unlocked. If this doesn't brick the quest in Chapter 4 then it might be possible that you can completely skip He Youzai in almost all his locations and still get the good ending.
