do people really look at this and say "yeah it looks better than games today" for real?

How was everthing back then rounder? Now every mesh seems to have to be jagged.

battlefield 6 looks like shit though. empty, barren streets with rows of empty buildings and soulless, lifeless slop. it's the same for earlier battlefield games but it's inexcusable in 6

back then games looked sharp, but right now even though we have better textures, models, etc, all the games come out blurry as fuck and ruins all of the technical advancement in graphics

Thank you for proving once again that all it takes to make you "g-graphics haven't advanced in 20 years" faggots think a game looks good is shiny shader effects. Battlefield 4 looked good, in 2014.

Looks almost as good as modern games and runs on hardware you could get at a garage sale for 10 bucks.

Maybe if you actually upgraded your monitor instead of staying at the same resolution for the last 20 years, they'd look sharper. Looks sharp on my 4k screen.

>games 15 years ago looked sharp at 1080p but now you need 4k and 10x processing power for it to look nearly as good as back then
lol that reply makes it so clear how fucking dumb you are that it's a waste of time to reply, but it actually made me laff

Yes they did. Graphics evolved, and now there's way more subpixel detail than ever before. 1080p is not enough to catch all of it, which is why you either get ugly shimmering or blurriness. Pick your poison, or suck it up and stop using a resolution from 20 years ago. Imagine people in 2012 complaining that their 640x480 screens don't make games look good anymore.

Exactly. That's the part modern devs don't get. BF3/4 looked incredible because they were built with optimization *and* artistry in mind. All the raytraced puddles in the world won't fix muddy art direction and lazy level design. Now it's all post-process noise smeared over generic environments just to hit a โ€œnext-genโ€ bullet point.

Shut the fuck up faggot. BF3 destroyed the PCs of its time, it was not built with optimization in mind. Fucking SLI GTX680 still stuttered with it. Stop romanticizing the optimization of old games just because your modern day hardware can bruteforce it today.

Bf4 looked like a blurry pos mess at release to me, still kinda does.
