If machines can replace physical jobs which include farming and food processing, construction and building as well as policing, army and physical enforcement then essentially 99% of people will share same fate as wild animals who's habitat was deforested; starving and rotting by the billions. And I mean that literally, no food, no electricity, no water, no transport, nothing. Because that's the end goal, not immediate goal. The money would not become obsolete overnight. They would control basic necessities like food, water, electricity and shelter as bargaining points until they are confident that the basic populace can not fight back whatever changes and policies you implement. For example the privacy act which we are living through right now. The erosion of privacy will help them quench whatever potential of rebellion people might have. Next will be the increase costs of necessities which will result in people being far less likely to fight back, hard to fight oppression if you struggle with rent. That in combination with the privacy policies would increase risk of losing a job or even your freedom; there are already reports of people in UK right now being visited by police and told to not speak up about the act or else. And losing your freedom or job when everything is expensive will take away their power to revolt as cold and starving homeless people or prisoners do not have much power.
Once most of the population aka normies become docile out of basic desire for survival and not to being homeless the 1% will begin inventing robotic workforce; including enforcers; which they already started. Once they finally invent and mass produce such workforce now the question remains of what's the point of governing, feeding and caring for the 99%. Some will be empathetic towards 99%. Some will just take whatever they want, human lives be damned. And who will stop them at that point? Maybe they will start fighting each other which would create some sort of cyberpunkesque warlord era with one side wanting to grab everything out of greed and lust for power and other wishing to keep rest of people alive out of the sake of basic empathy.
