I do kinda wish it was more of a stealth and hacking game (although it already has plenty of that) because killing 30 heavily armed guys every mission and hundreds over a playthrough is breaking immersion, but it would lose too much market appeal.
They can't afford to limit their potential audience like that, not with the budget this thing had.

I am playing a stealthy hacker and while it totally does work, it's clear that the game is not entirely tailored for it. Going through a mission stealthily can sometimes just feel like work, especially without ranged weapons.

Or MGS lore.
Super missed opportunity even. You had the whole "corpo" thing there. You could totally make that a covert operations organisation or something and have a drastically different set of gameplay elements matching those sorts of games.
Then leave the GTA shit to the other branches.

I was expecting this, instead they just shove V into the same story as the average gutter dwelling choom. What's the point of even having it?

It's ok, but it's not what it could be. It could be something more akin to MGS or Deus Ex.
You could just have some locations that force that sort of gameplay to happen. They sorta half do it, but then it breaks too easily and just becomes GTA slop.
Anonymous No.718025136 >>718025716

Maybe, but not nearly as immersive as MGS. That still shits all over it.
I played that AFTER this game btw. They sorta start on the whole Arasaka crime gang shit but then it just sorta gets meh and the gameplay isn't nearly as good as MGS. It wants to be MGS at times but just flops. You have all of this detailing of the open world, but then the covert operation element is just sorta patched in and it doesn't quite click, when it really could be the main driver of this sort of game.

I think they focused way too much on the GTA shit.

Because gameplay and designs are being nerfed by ESG and censorship to memory hole strategic shit and prevent trauma of children.
Which ironically is causing the complete opposite while making games duller than ever and while stagnating the economy in this industry, but other industries too. 25% contraction is srs bsns lost because of ESG and censorship. Perhaps it's time to stop.

>instead it's going to get worse because ekaren doesn't care if her kids starve and are raped IRL because of her laws, she's that stupid

There was way more rape before any of this form of media existed btw. Talking pre-20th century when sex trafficking was just normal cultural shit.

I would love if the sequel is a Deus Ex type of game. I know it won't be, it'll be yet another open world jack-of-all trades but still, its good to dream. You could do an entire immersive sim in just in one of the megablocks.

It's tame as fuck.
It's not even close to what it could be because it's formal industry slop. The industry cannot make anything remotely close to grindhouse-y let alone so grim and dark and sinister like our reality. Only real life can do that unfortunately.

Gotta break laws to do this too. I thought games caused crime, instead here's more proof that it ironically prevents it from happening in the streets.

As compared to what?
CP77?
Lol,
At least when you're infiltrating places it feels like a proper infiltration (well more like it at least) than in CP77.
CP77 feels like a walk in the park compared to MGS2 even. It's too easy. It needs to be much much harder like a little slip up will collapse the house of cards.

But this is only for Corpo or Defense lifepaths. Don't do this as much for the others otherwise that lifepath loses it's distinction.
You need different gameplay for the other paths. More social interaction shit maybe. Trying to convince people to swing your way and make your way up in the world from the gutters.

Corpos shouldn't be that. They could totally just be a pure covert operations lifepath thing.

I thought it looked addicting, but also tedious. I can see why people dislike it and MGS2 (which divided people too because it kinda jumped the shark with anime bullshit unlike MGS1 which somehow felt more grounded with characters).

Also this is a Deus Ex/ MGS thread now considering both franchises are dead and CDPR might be our only hope for another AAA covert operations/conspiracy shit game. I always love conspiracy bullshit games in their own universe with obvious parallels, they're my favourite genre and it's sad that people really don't like them much anymore because it terrifies them in the epstein-covid world. You need investment into it, and pursuing quickhacks. You also need to come up with a set of quickhacks and how you're gonna use em; decks and cyberware also.
The moment-to-moment mechanics in combat and in stealth can be simplistic, but there's a big side element of collection and buildcrafting around hacking.
CDPR have put in a great effort into making a cyberpunk setting work. Shit is *not* easy (as 1.0 showed).

I can't believe some anime and mass sunken cost fallacy was all it took to convince the entire gaming community that this the developers were perfect angels and that this game was a victim of pushy shareholders and console releases, and not the fact that they replaced most of their staff and overhauled the game half way through.

With them switching to Unreal slop and getting further absorbed by California, Project Orion will be doomed.

I did hacking, it's ok.
I like the perk tree. I've heard it was kinda nerfed but I only played the game post liberty patch.
It really could be more covert ops orientated though. Hacking in itself is a form of infiltration, why not concatenate that with stealth physical infiltration gameplay more? That's what hacking really is designed to do.
I mean, I guess it does do that a bit, but it still doesn't go far enough and the world design kinda makes it far too easy. You can get away with murder far too much.

Then again, in MGS2 you just enter a door and everything resets (yet I found this fun.. strangely).

Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Hong Kong (which we might be seeing in Orion btw) do this thing with their levels where you can solve a level-wide social/hacking puzzle to completely sidestep the combat of the mission. It's tons of fun and gets you a lot of flavor and story.
This sort of thing is present in 2077, but somehow doesn't work as well. Probably because they cheap out on it and just put in random doors or other little skillchecks that are merely some extra loot or a side path. I guess having the level "evolve" more like it does in Shadowrun would be too expensive in terms of assets for a AAA 3D game. I do hope they figure it out with Orion.
