I really like HoMM 5 but whoever made the hero leveling system is a psycopath, genuinely I can barely follow that shit even with the external application, it doesn't help that it's one of those games that doesn't like tabbing neither.

I'm surprised no one has tried to do a documentary on the creation of this game. Get as many interviews from ex-devs and all that. It will be interesting as fuck but hard to do because most of these people aren't even in the industry anymore.

Soul. One thing that bugs me is how in every new HoMM game the units in combat get smaller and smaller until they’re the size of RTS units (except without the density of RTS armies) and you can barely see them except when the camera does a close up. I prefer the big units from HoMM2.

While orcs arent great, cyclops are one of the strongest ranged units in the game. They're expensive but stronghold only really needs crystal (in addition to ore/wood) so you can just trade all your mercury/sulphur/gems

Stronghold can't learn water magic so your buffs have to come from air or earth. Fire isn't great since you already have ogres to cast bloodlust, plus earth has town portal which on maps bigger than small is really handy
