The whole point was to highlight that Meme lister's character was a piece of shit and everyone is better off with him dead and gone.

Not even close, at best he's an unreliable narrator.
So many people who play the game miss the entire plot point that the relic is not the actual real Johnny Silverhand, its literally just a partial capture with missing and corrupted data. If you pay attention to the story its abundantly clear that Johnny lies to you almost all the time and his ego makes him misremember and exaggerate details and stories from his own life.
If you know more about actual Cyberpunk lore than Relic Johjnny's bullshitting and lies becomes way more abundantly and clear right from the very beginning. The game frames his as "The Guy" but he's not The Guy, he's not capable of being The Guy he was never The Guy.

I just hate that the game doesn't care how you interact with him at all.
I did one playthrough where I went along with his "fuck the establishment" plot
And another where I was a corpo fully integratd into the system and went out of my way to disagree with him at every turn
And yet near the end of the game V and Johnny were all buddy-buddy, "We're cut from the same cloth, I understand if you need to make the choice you need to make" huggy bullshit
