It made more profit than everything despite the Wii/DS era selling a hundred million more units of hardware and half a billion more units of software because they're charging you far more and doing things like paid online. All while more and more people are struggling financially. They used to be the affordable option. This is not healthy for the longterm. They're also run by an accountant and an EA executive now, not Iwata. They used to be the only portable option, and now there are better portables, even if the masses don't know they exist yet.
So just, don't be surprised by what results from all that.
