Courts are heavily geared in favor of the prosecution in Japan, which can lead to them being very successful, and sometimes competitive when it comes to things like win streaks and whatnot.
This isn't really because there is anything wrong with it, generally Japan has an impeccable police force, and a much lower crime rate so they can put more time into their work. They are very thorough with investigations. Generally if someone goes to court, they are proven guilty anyway by that point.
Ace Attorney addresses the elephant in the room with that though, that if an innocent man DOES get to court, it's basically over for them, and the defense will need to fight tooth and nail to get them off the hook. The games make the police incompetent though which isn't really a thing in Japan but helps its narrative.
A lot of prosecutors will do the same, and be somewhat corrupt, due to their inflated egos and will still try to get them found guilty even if they know they're innocent.
