It played and looked cheap as hell but you were nevertheless free to run and jump and shoot everywhere. The fact that players rejected Crackdown 2 showed that the IP just didn't have legs. I do. But one of the most common things of "3D adventure" is actually little to no adventure at all, and glorified combat arenas spaced out a bit more than a straight linear action/shooter game. Oh and some collectibles for good measure.

Im just asking if its a zelda like cuz I like puzzles. And think Zelda is like the only major adventure series that strongly focuses on puzzles which when distilled to: problem solving
Is the most adventure you can get. Think about it. Even in real life or classic adventure when you traverse or "jump" youre doing it to overcome the problem of an obstacle. Not just LITERALLY get over an obstacle to the finish line. The point of adventure is to find something. Using your tools to clear the way. In some classic senses, literally (cutting down vines or tall grass with machete)

the puzzles are more like Majoras Mask and it is more linear a la The Hobbit but theres a decent amount of open space, but its only full of collectibles and NPCs that mostly spit out walls of text (like zelda)
its a gamecube game shoved unto 360, (its not Brown and full of bloom) the game world isnt giant sprawling land like openworld slop and shadows of the colossus but it isnt a giant chore list like Ubislop

Mid-2000s was already after the collapse started.
Home consoles got left behind by home computers in the late 90s and early 2000s, so there was no reason to continue focusing on them, but investors got mislead heavily by the success of the PS2 due to its built in DVD player even though every other console in 6th gen was tanking.
This eventually lead to slowly declining standards, since consoles appeared to have the better audience and they only ever got the worst version of a game, especially after several series shot themselves in the foot just to push out a simultaneous console release.

It's crazy how influential xbox 360 was, I wonder how much money Microsoft sank into marketing, or if it really was just mainly that they got their console out first.

But holy shit, culturally speaking there's no questioning that it utterly dominated playstation that generation. Xbox went from being a niche to being a household name, if anybody was playing games in a tv show or movie it was on an xbox, every single gaming site used the xbox 360 versions of game covers.

360 also had the market place and helped push indies into the mainstream, it had voice chat, xbox live, achievements. PS3 was lagging behind so fucking hard when it released
