Nah, people are still pretty obsessed. On release there were daily, frenzied threads of art, story discussion, ranting about bosses, and theory crafting. Things died down though since some janitor kept nuking threads within 30 posts. Add to it now being some time away from release, people have settled down to a degree or taken their autism elsewhere.

Still love it, still excited for the next chapter, still hoping the deer gets cucked. Not much to discuss at this point though till we get the next part.

The long and short of it is that when the Undertale demo originally dropped, some dude (who is now referred to pretty broadly as "poopy joe" because of his antics) commissioned a Toriel X Isabelle scat comic specifically to spam it in the /v/ UT Demo threads and derail them. More recently, he's the guy who kept making all the "MOTHER 3'S JUXTAPOSITION IS FOR FAGGOTS" threads on /v/ and /vrpg/, and probably also the dude who makes the "X.... BROKE me...." threads.

My opinion on Deltarune is currently on a precipice, because the next chapter is going to decide whether or not I continue with this game based entirely on what Asgore does. I like Asgore a lot, and we have been slowly but surely building up to an Asgore-centric subplot, which will give him some much-needed development and, ideally, allow us to finally see what an unrestrained Asgore can truly do. However, this comes with some concerns - Asgore has thus far been painted as a loser cuck, one that everyone pretty much walks all over, and right now he is at his lowest because the one thing that gives him purpose, Toriel, is hooking up with another man. How Asgore responds to this, and how the game treats Asgore, is going to determine my overall opinion and interest in Deltarune.
All I want is for Asgore to be treated with dignity and respect, and to have a (relatively) happy ending. That does not necessarily mean getting back together with Toriel, but it does mean that Asgore must be allowed to finally show what he's made of, and actually earn a real, honest happy ending for himself, one that is actually respectable and justifiable. If Chapter 5 doubles down on Asgore cucking by makint him immediately fold and remain the eternal loser ex-husband, thereby giving him a "happy" ending where he basically fades into the background to perpetually sit in the proverbial chair, I will be very unhappy, and I will no longer support Deltarune.

It has the potential to be something special just like undertale but the issue with it is that the fanbase is genuinely, unironically the worst video game fanbase I have ever seen in my entire life, deltarune fans are somehow even more obnoxious freaks than genshin impact fans and that is saying a fucking lot if you ever met one on the internet. Why write Noelle's interest in Susie to be shallow and vapid, as well as the repeated bits of her getting 'cucked' by Kris, who Susie clearly cares about way more, if he wasn't intending to go anywhere with that? Moreover, the thing of Berdly liking Susie for asinine shallow reasons obviously draws paralells to Noelle also liking Susie for asinine shallow reasons. There would be no reason to write this if he just wanted to do the thing from Undertale again.

Noelle and Susie's romance is written like a teenage romance, which tend to be shallow and awkward. They bonded over their mutual love of retro games in the basement and they'll have plenty of time to learn more about each other during the festival date Susie invited her to. Berdly's crush on Susie is "wrong" because he just wants to boost his ego or some shit and doesn't care enough about her as a person to learn her actual name. Noelle's crush will win out because the plot dem- because they have more chemistry. If you doubt Susie likes Noelle you need to replay chapter 2 and take note of how often she blushes and spazzes out whenever she is involved. Toby is writing it like this because Deltarune is much longer than Undertale and he needs to give it some buildup.
