I recently played Type 4, I think grip wipes the floor with drift. The last track is impossible unless all your speed and turn management is with the gearbox, drifting could bring me down to 90kmh, it was a shitshow of sliding. I didn't have that knowledge as it was my first arcade racer. thinking of playing GT4 next.
Thrill Drive, my favorite of the bunch but a bitch to emulate.
I'll just list what I've been testing in order of preference:
Thrill Drive
Outrun 2006
Sega Rally 2
NFS Underground
Scud Race
Rave Racer
Daytona 2 (feels so weird, but heard it's great with a wheel)

Cruis'n USA was fun on N64. I'll have to give this series another try.
can someone explain to me why I cant downshift in richar burns rally? I have it set to read my gearshift for my wheel in settings, and I can raise gears just fine, but it doesnt register anything when Im actually doing a course. Do I need to bind a clutch button or something or brake?

I'm playing through R: Racing Evolution now. Almost every cutscene starts with some tits taking up about 70% of the frame; or some girl taking a shower. Shame they didn't put any effort into car physics tho.
Oh, and Monaco sucks ass.

they are way rarer than they should be.
its a bit different but intertial drift captures the lo-fi modern anime equivalent sensibility version of that. not quite as soulful as sega's tropical miami beach front golden age aesthetic, but its still decent and has a fun drift mechanic
I was once playing with a pal at an arcade and i slammed into the back of his craft with such force that his machine literally bluescreened, it was awesome
Pic related is the only game I touch anymore. Bought it on Ebay a few months back and like to do a few races or time trial laps whenever I've got the time. >don't own a PS5, so can't play GT7
I know you can play a demo of 7 on PS4 but all my controllers are buggered and I've already shelled out enough for that shit console. Gaming is dead anyway. I'd rather save up for a real car.

this was one of the best racing games on the PS3 and also the most unnoticed because Sony just had to release it just before the PS4 launched and it couldnt even play the fucking game

Are you using a separate gear leaver? RBR only properly recognises a single device, so if you want extra peripherals to work correctly you have to bind them through a plugin. I believe this has been fixed to work outside of the box without a need of additional plugins in RBRhu version, but it has been a while since I last played it so not 100% sure on it.

GT2 is usually considered the best, my personal best is GT3 and in my opinion it went downhill starting with GT4. I did like GT Sport of online racing though and haven't tried 7 yet
