You might remember that around the time it was initially getting popular, there was this song written and sung about how you "couldn't fight the Homestuck" or something to that effect, with the intention of demonstrating that Homestuck is kind of a cultural incarnation of the unstoppable force concept. There was also a line towards the end of the song about how "from now on, it will go on and on and on and on...". Complete conjecture, but I don't think any anon could argue it wasn't prescient considering we're now a decade plus on from it ending five years after it was intended to and we still get a thread like this pretty much every day.

I love everything about the Sburb side of Homestuck and I wish the whole thing was just about the 4 main kids going through the thing, the Trolls were alright but the 2nd group of kids were unlikable lunatics and the 2nd batch of trolls were all totally useless. I fucking love Caliborn though

I recently watched through Saw 1, 2 and 3 to get context for Caliborn, and, honestly, the most impressive thing about Caliborn is that Hussie managed to take a pop culture movie series that was so disturbing and hard to watch and turn it into such an effective (and funny) character YEARS before it was socially acceptable to be interested in them in nerd circles.

I had this weird phase in my life where my friends at the time were cripplingly obsessed with homestuck, like it was literally the only thing they did or talked about and their walls were plastered in random art and printouts of it and they were constantly going to meets and cosplaying it and shit

I tried to read it back then but it didn't really feel like me and the entire thing had this uncomfortable association as something I was being othered by, I don't think I got very far past where the trolls first showed up

I just started actually reading it now that I can just do it for myself, I don't think I actually really care about it but I just want to understand how anything could have ever been this compelling to someone

I hate that I want to re-read this because it's been so many years and I don't remember SHIT. but god it's so fucking long

Apparently the epilogue was published by Viz and they demanded a large amount of changes, Jade's cock was supposed to be in the original text but Viz had it cut, who knows what other degenerate shit Hussie had in there before the changes, but sounds like Viz at least tried to not have it be as bad
