It's the classic fanbase paradox, anon. They latch onto the character's design or personality from spin-offs, fanon, or just plain "vibes" and ignore how much of a trainwreck they were in the actual game. Look at how people simp for Aqua despite her spending 90% of her screen time crying or screwing everything up. Fans fill in gaps with headcanons that are way better than the actual writing.
