Man, it looked like such a big AAA title, contender for Goty or whatever, remake of an old legend.. But the game was just boring and not up to date. Reminds me of how much we wanted Mike Tyson to win his last fight and show us the 58yo man still had the beast in him but he just gassed out after 2 rounds, that's exactly Oblivion Remastered. I remember even thinking it would be the new Skyrim and that TES6 was unnecessary, lmao no it doesn't remotely reach vanilla Skyrim's quality

I'm not even sure if I got far enough to judge it, but the initial experience was simply bad. After escaping from the underground, I'm now running errands on towns. Random quests. Fighting random bandits in dungeons. Skyrim set you on a much cooler path I believe with big skill trees and stuff to aim for, in Oblivion I felt aimless and bored

That's because it came out rushed and sloppy on UE5 to make matters worse. Extremely poorly optimized on PC, and they Skyrim'd the combat - just as I feared they would, Bethesda can't help themselves now but try to appeal to fickle normies for extra $ but ironically they forgot about the "fickle" part of normies.

I'm so glad I stuck with my pc original Oblivion with the unofficial patches, unlimited timeless fun gameplay whenever I feel like it, only issues I have are the occasional crash maybe say every 20 times I open up the game.

I put a hundred hours into it over a month, then I just burnt out half way through shivering isles. That said, it was my most played game since I became a wagie during COVID, and putting another four hours on a computer after spending eight hours on one really killed my interest in computer games. Went from 1500 hours a year to less than 200, so the fact Oblivion got me to dump a hundred in a month was amazing for me. I found myself staying up until six in the morning like I was a teenager again, and my body just could t handle it.

If the remake Morrowind I’ll probably have to quit my job or at least take several months vacation to play it properly.

Skyrim is watered down because of all the cut weapon types, magic types, enemy variety and environments that were in morrowind and oblivion.
The faction questlines in skyrim are also watered down as fuck compared to oblivion, and especially morrowind where you had multiple ways to complete quests and you weren't railroaded into only one type of solution.
You could actually roleplay. Weapon types had advantages and disadvantages.
There was hand-placed loot in morrowind and not JUST randomly generated garbage that scales with you level like in oblivion and skyrim.

All that said, morrowind is janky as fuck and most people never realize how much shit is in it because the game was made in fucking 2002.

It was a needed remaster, but it's a shame that it runs off of UE5 which just makes the performance an RNG experience of sometimes running smoothly and other times running like hot shit.

Also I want to add that the gameplay adjustments for the remaster genuinely make it a better experience than the original and it's not even close. Scaling can still be rough, but the revamped leveling system and the intensity of enemy scaling being lowered helped it feel a lot better to play. The game is still fun to explore, but it wears off at some point the same way it wears off in Skyrim. Eventually you just want the game to be over.

The game is aged, everyone has played it, everyone moved on. We're living in a time where people are onto Bethesda's bullshit so people aren't going to fawn over this game the same way people discovering open world for the first time felt when they played their first Elder Scrolls game with Skyrim.

This isn't a remake. Remasters presumably aren't eligible for TGAs' GOTY because (unlike remakes) they're not fundamentally new content.

I'm 31. I played oblivion over a decade ago and hated it. I eventually played Morrowind and enjoyed it a lot. I grew to really enjoy Skyrim even without mods. I played the oblivion remaster and still hated it.

Maybe if you're a HOMO who enjoys the salty aftertaste of his husband's semen. Skyrim is equally if not more enjoyable if you play a heavy-armour warrior with smithing skills. It's full of stylish, lovingly-detailed armour sets and weapons to reward those who take this path. And I'd argue that simply running in and thwacking people with a 2-handed weapon and a little fus-do-rah is faster and more fun than sneaking around lining up headshots.

I did not have fun in Skyrim as a mage, however.

Next time they should release a patch sooner than 2 months after release. Their were so many broken quests effecting so many players. Having to stall my progress in the thieves guild for that time period killed all my hype. By the first patch I had lost interest.

I haven’t even played it, looking forward to Skyblivion. That’s an actual remake, this is just a crappy Unreal Engine reskin.
