I never actually like Battlefield games before, but this one is very different.

All other BF games when i hit a f@ggot with a 40mm canon, he just keeps running like a happy rabbit, then hides like a bitch then peaks for a millisecond and RPGs me and kills me. It was infuriating so i quit free trial and never gave my money to those dev @ssholes.

In reality 40mm w0uld tear him to pieces.

But in BF 6... 1 hit and he is sent flying dead and that makes it fun as fuck.

The BETA gave Dice a no confidence vote from me, as in i can't play what doesn't work. Therefore they cannot steal my money, and i part ways with this studio for the rest of my entire life.

Sad turn of events, but whoevers working in this studio are making bad PC ports and they don't care about this franchise. Dice are too busy gloating about how they're going to destroy COD to not shit out unfinished garbage.

I miss the BF2 way where every map had a small, medium, and large version. Now they're putting a bunch of effort into a lot of tiny, shitty maps when they could have just made a big map with smaller boundaries for smaller games. They already kind of do that in the 8v8 mode anyway.
I haven't had a chance to play the game today but I hear Empire State is pretty shite and small. Their infantry-only approach seems like shit compared to Metro and Lockers.

Is there any performance uplift in setting everything on low?

i have never bought a full priced game on steam and i never will

Most settings actually give some performance back since it's Frostbite and not unreal trash. If you look in the settings descriptions, it will tell you what taxes the GPU and CPU. It's decently accurate. I'd set everything that says "high GPU" lower.
Don't expect miracles if your game is running really shitty, you'd still need to use some upscaling if you're on lower hardware.

I played the first beta for 22h and enjoyed it a lot (breakthrough). Played some today and quit after two matches, guess ~20h was enough to burn out after the hype was gone. The game doesn't really to anything special, might as well play older BF games or Delta Force instead of paying $70.
Gaming is dead because you can play games from a decade ago and either have the same or even better experience. Innovation is non-existent outside of how to squeeze players dry with mtx and fomo crap.

Anti-air is also overpowered. I don't even fly, but I definitely wouldn't in this game. Every game I play as an engineer, it's way too easy to take down like 10 fucking aircraft with the stinger or whatever. Having fun. Wish there were larger maps with more water focus as well as land and air I liked that in BF4. Otherwise it’s good though. I like how impactful the attachments are to the guns, you can make each gun feel a lot different depending on what you attach to it.

This is my theory for why they are also playing it safe with smaller scale maps, keeping rush at 12v12, getting rid of RT shit and stepping the visuals down a bit. Lmao, you never played BF2. It was actually hard to spawn trap the US as MEC on that particular Karkand map layer. There is a lot of room to flank the edges, especially the left side going up. I remember that top and left most flag was the classic back-capture point. The moment that started to get capped, the entire front at the US un-cap fell apart.

As far as crossing the bridge into the water to the factory on the top right, it didn't matter because you could win by controlling the city and you didn't need to push that far. It's possibly the most popular BF2 map because it was well designed. Devs would think of how to create a balanced map but keep it unique before CoD came up with the copy/paste 3 lanes and call it a day lazy bullshit.

Wow the game is unplayable without DLSS

I had fun. Played it for like 6 hours today with half of that trying things out in the bot mode.

Level destruction is pretty decent and a surprising amount of buildings can be knocked down if you actually work at it. I'm sure I angered my team several times by playing wreck it Ralph with the tank instead of pushing objectives/fighting enemy tank.

Obviously there are some balance issues but once I got the game running smooth it felt pretty good. I'm not sure what they can do about the shotgun balance. If it doesn't 1 shot in close quarters it will be useless, but if it continues to 1 shot it will be abused heavily. Perhaps wider pellet spread and slugs lose even more bullet velocity.

The shotgun is fine. Opportunity cost for missing in close quarters is very high, if you don’t have good aim or get spotted by more than one person at the same time you’ll get shredded by anyone with an automatic.

This beta is just blatantly putting it out there how big of a POS the full release is. Here is all information we have on the upcoming maps:

We didn't even see the 2 infantry-only maps Empire State (this changed today) and Saints Quarter. Manhattan Bridge has vehicles, but leaks reported that this map is also pretty small and better on foot.

For big maps there is only 3 out of 9 left:
- Mirak Valley (biggest BF6 map)
- Operation Firestorm (again and again, from BF3 and BF4)
- New Sobek City (under construction neighborhood + sand dunes)

Worst of all is that the next 3 BF3/BF4 remakes for BF6 are all infantry focused maps too and pretty small maps in general. These are:
- Propaganda (urban infantry, no air vehicles)
- Talah Market (urban infantry, no air vehicles)
- Downtown (urban infantry)

I feel this game has identity crisis.
I dont understand what it tries to be; the game feels like white noise to play.
The audio is a non-factor, teamplay is non-factor, the shit tickrate makes most firefights unreliable and unpredictable.
What is left? Its a mowing down simulator, go forward, dont get flanked and hope your magdump gets 1 or 2 guys as you blast past.
No one communicates, no one tries to play as team, its all just mayhem - white noise for 20minutes with no stakes.
I think this game has no 'spot'.
I love Hunt Showdown since the TTK is great and the game rewards you for every single style of playstyle.

Jets feel the same as they always have in every BF game (like a bad Ace Combat copy). Only new thing is that you can fire at a position with free look, instead of being forced to point your nose at a target with missiles.

Helicopters are weird. By default they fly more like jets than helicopters, however there is a setting in options that turns them more into helicopters, but it removes your mobility quite badly by forcing you to default to a hover. There is no way to toggle them in-match which is stupid imo.

just the performance was really awful. i was getting 40fps on average, with lows going down to 15. i thought it was just some of the maps, but it was on all of them. on top of that i had absurd input latency and slowdown, to where every match made me feel like i was underwater. i thought it was my CPU just being too dogshit for the game since it's pretty old, so i was going to do a bunch of fixes, but that config file enabling multithreading fixes everything. i get up to 80fps now, without enabling framegen or upscaling. i don't get why that isn't by default. i might not even do the other fixes.
