Crash Team Racing
What was the real reason that the game wasn't ported to PC?
Anonymous No.718079935 >>718091721
so this could exist.

50/50 people would just forcibly unlock all the cash shop items and the online got l4d tier fucked by autists who are emotionally incapable of realizing they're acting like fags

Aren't all unlocked items on the online server?

Are you suggesting in the age where everyone has to install rootkits for every online game but still cheating is an endemic problem to online gaming that a cash shop would at all be remotely secure?

didn't wanna deal with pc cheaters and microtransaction hackers

Well, I meant that many games with such a system work without problems and are not hacked.
I might be wrong tho. Still, I think they could have sold enough copies to recoup the cost of the port and even make a profit.

Because it ran on the god awful Skylanders engine. Notice how none of the Skylanders games are on PC either. Even the Nsane Trilogy, despite its PC port, is ass that can't even run at a proper 60fps.

Oh yeah, isn't it locked at 30 fps?
I've played it on PS4

They didn't care about it, thats the legitimate answer given by a dev who said Activision just didn’t have any incentive to do it. Remember presumably, they had more post GP content planned into 2020 and that got the plug pulled on it too. Same year that the franchise killing CB4: IAT released. I think a study should be done on the corporate levels of disdain and indifference they have for a simple franchise about a talking marsupial who fights mad scientists and races against aliens.

It's broken above 30fps because a bunch of stuff is directly calculated per frame, but it's absolutely playable in 60fps

Because PCfags can't stop cheating in multiplayer games and would have made people drop it quicker.

>Spyro remaster is the same way, trying to run it at 60fps on PC causes all sorts of weird shit and you have to install a mod to fix it
why are these devs so allergic to 60fps

We need a proper PC port of the Nsane trilogy or a proper PC port of the original PS1 games. Preferably both.

We don't because it's easy to emulate both.

It makes more sense when you find out that publishing duties were jobbed out to Sony and Sega meaning Activision didn't make much money off of Nsane or Nitro Fueled. I imagine both of those entities are also why the games tried to stay faithful to the originals.

And to answer the obvious, C4 was 100% Activision. Neither Sony or Sega were involved with that mess.

You can unlock all of them with a cheat code on yuzu, so probably not

Proper PC ports of the OG trilogy is the only way we can get some decent modding done. Have you seen what they've been doing with the CTR decompile?

the online component i believe
the game was by all metrics a success
>huge install base
>good reception
>solid post launch content
it checked off everything right and still didnt get ported
the other multiplayer game, crash team rumble is also locked to consoles where that game is the exact opposite
>incredibly small install base
>universally hated
>terrible post launch support
the common thread between them being they are multiplayer games. And something about that in particular probably had some shareholder going "yeah but you could have that porting studio support call of duty instead which makes us infinitely more money"
I think 0 people wanted a crash 4 pc port, people to this day still want crash team racing pc port.

It's less they're "Allergic to 60FPS" more
>These games were by developers that had zero idea they'd release on a variety of hardware and not have one specific performance point
At the time it released there was NO indication that N. Sane Trilogy was going to release on anything but the PS4, but seemingly became a multiplat because of how well it performed.
Spyro Reignited, though, seems to be fucked since Toys For Bob offloaded most of the work to Indians which is where you get fuck ups like the IN GAME, PRE RENDERED CUTSCENES being in fuckhuge 720p videos that looked worse than launch day in game on PC
Anonymous No.718083243
>>718082097
I mean I'd like a PC port of the originals, I prefer it over N. Sane.
The thing I'd mostly be worried about is any SDK being made for it being annoying to use.

Engine swap was a good decision
Anonymous No.718088431
The reason is they weren't given a large enough budget to allocate a team to do porting efforts so they did what they could before Activision liquidated the talent and turned them into call of duty slaves.

I've seen videos on this recently as if me looking at CTR made it thrown in my face, but that item system seems really fucking stupid. How good would you say it is overall?
Anonymous No.718092205

You play for the speed, not the items.
It plays really well and facilitates time trials fantastically by letting you download any ghost from the leaderboard (custom tracks included) with presets for your own, the world record, and the one thats 1 rank ahead of you. They even give you splits for legs of the track, in addition to lap splits, if you care about that.
