I don't think Aloy is at all an ugly character, but it is undeniable the real actress looks better. Making realistic faces for character models is hard. We as humans are super tuned to even minute details, to the point anything being slightly off can make a character look very weird.

Look at these face scan images, for instance. There aren't any super obvious differences, but there's still something about it that makes the real actress look a lot better, at least for me.

Well, you can clearly see that Aloy's complexion is very different. It's uneven and clearly showing damage from being out in the sun without any protection.

The games don't really get that much into the grooming and cosmetic habits and technology available to the tribes so, assuming it's fairly limited, they actually kinda fucked up keeping her eyebrows so straight and well-shaped.

They've clearly widened the bottom half of her face, her cheeks, cheek bones and jaw, while narrowing her forehead. It's an ugly head shape.
