Dracula is boring, you get healed midfight and second form is horrible

I also forgot to mention that the game is too easy and a tad too long.

Dracula's Curse remake to serve as a narrative bridge between Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.

Idk dude even when playing with richter you get
-fully upgraded whip all the time
-jumping on AND off of stairs
-no need to build up a multiplier for the subweapons because its based off of the number of hearts now
-some item crashes are basically a rosary on demand
-the game showers you with extra lives
-a suprisingly low amount of instant death pits or spikes for a cv game
Which makes the game pretty easy
But its still one of the best classicvania games. Thats undeniable

Rondo is the most honest classicvania by far. Maybe a little too honest since the difficulty revolves less around hellish level design and enemies knocking you into the nearest pit and more around more straightforward encounters with strong enemies (so it honestly is one of the easiest classicvanias if not the easiest and you'd be crazy to say otherwise). Personally I think 3 got the balance between enemies and levels just right despite being a real bastard.

The biggest problem with Rondo is that there's no timer. You can play like a coward and never have to worry about timing out.

Because it was the one that didn’t come out in the West and the TurboGrafx 16 was a bitch to emulate in the 90’s. Rondo had reached mythical status in the fanbase long before anyone could play it. YouTube didn’t exist back then, so we were all in some kind of mania driven by the sweatlords that imported it and told us filthy peasants that we were missing out on the real “best Castlevania ever.” We were all hoodwinked by the neckbeards at the CastleVania Dungeon forums or places like Mr P.s Castlevania Realm. By the time we all got to play it in the early 2000’s thanks to better emulation, the Wii release and the PSP port, the game was already cemented as the best thing ever that was beyond reproach.

Turns out it was just okay, but we had built it up in our minds over like 10 years that the neckbeards spoke true and we had to play this masterpiece.

It’s remarkable how often it happens in gaming. Find a lot of games that never left Japan in the 80’s-early 2000’s and there will be someone on the internet telling you that you didn’t play the best thing ever made. Captain Rainbow, Mother 3, Sin and Punishment. The list of “alright” games that got circlejerked as 10/10 masterpieces is endless. Behind every one of those is a smug sweat lord who paid to import it and spread bullshit to justify his purchase.

Among the classic ones i've played it's the "safest" one. Pretty good story with pretty good characters, pretty good gameplay, consistent highs with very little lows, just a very refined version of the first four games
