MGS is okay for presentation but that's it. Halo has always been trash for Xbabies that didn't play PC shooters. HL is great, but a lot of the novelty might not impress you now. RE4 on PC with the tweaked controls and HD mod is still a fantastic experience. In reality a lot of the "great lineups" are mostly mediocre console games people only like because they grew up with.

What I liked about gaming back then is so many games could be GOTY and you didn't really think anything of it if your preferred game doesn't win since the rest of the choices can also be so good. These days there is maybe only one or two clear winners at best and even then its still a joke since none of these games are actually truly deserving of such a title these days. Astro Bot wins last year by default of everything else being shit or a remake.
