the only thing RED has going for it is the heavy/med pair, I guess the compfag soldier and demo (and maybe sniper) would give BLU a bit of a hard time. only having one engi hurts them a lot.
meanwhile BLU has two engis, meaning reliable access to teleporters, a good pyro, a competent heavy, and an okay enough soldier. if cunnysseur is willing to actually heal and uber his teammates, they're about evenly matched when it comes to medics.
if it's payload or any other asymmetrical gamemode I'd say BLU has the advantage, but if it's symmetrical, RED wins.

RED has 4 dead weight players in the f2p scout, the hoovy, the f2p medic with his fucking blutsauger out and the trolldier stoned off his ass. The heavy medic combo, the weeb soldier and Clint are hard carrying that team. The Spy and Demo are 50/50 on whether or not they get anything done but I would put money on Sentry Busta having a higher score than W1ck3d in the end if for no other reason than the BLU engi brothers have a pybro with them and he's going to get tilted after the 3rd try sapping anything, meanwhile Sentry can probably handle their shit on his own well enough. The Furfag Pyro probably can combo and airblast OK but he is extremely likely to get drawn into the hoovy's antics and end up being a useless faggot who does nothing the whole game because of it. Mook is the wildcard, he could be a good or a bad engie but as long as he has teles going he's not dead weight.

The engie bros have their Pybro with them as I said earlier, I assume he's at least decent at spychecking and airblasting and big bro is probably just having a good time with his lil bro so it's the better team to be on regardless vibe wise. if Gamergirl is a female (male), xe's probably at least decent at the game but the most likely to cause everything to come to a screeching halt if anyone on xir team (most likely Cunnysseur or Prokiller) says Nigger or Faggot at any point by trying to cause a votekick. If she's a gamer (female) she's just shit to begin with. Ballzsquasher is too autistic to use anything but the ScoRes, he's god tier with that on defense but he won't do shit on offense. Kowalski sits on a sightline and whiffs almost every headshot he goes for and is dominated by Clint in the first 3 minutes of the match, but he will eventually land a couple clutch headshots ideally on Gigi or his BF. Tombstone and SisterFister are above average players, Sister is an asshole to his team but Tombstone is pretty chill and will clutch every sandvich toss he goes for, unfortunately he's also pretty likely to get pulled into Hoovy antics if he gets bored so hopefully his team shows no mercy to Derpy Pootis. If Cunnysseur has the sense to put his lolishit sign away and heal when it's needed he contibutes but if not then he's just dead weight. ProKiller is another Kowalski except he's the most likely to ragequit on the team if he misses a matador or whatever gay trickstabs he saw MrPaladin do on a 10 year old video. Ralsei is very casual and a furfag but he's probably the 'good' kind of casual whos a pretty scary Demoknight, he might go on a huge tear against RED if Mook is a retard about his sentry placements or otherwise just feeds him too many heads. Bob is the outlier, either he's brand new and just learning the class, or he's a God at the game who has been playing since 2007, stomps entire lobbies and leaves without saying a word.

Pay attention to the actual maps. Red is defending cartoonishly destructive super weapons in the attack/defend maps. Admittedly Payload involves Blu delivery a bomb but that was a later addition.

Real answer though is that it’s just a hold over from Team Fortress Classic’s color choice and it’s cute that Valve bothered to address it at all by adding the Red superweapon lore to the original attack/defend maps.
