huh. so they looked at the cost vs benefit and decided rather than upgrading the components, it would be cheaper to just do the repair for the small subset of users who can be arsed to send it in.
most people will either just make their dumbass kids deal with the drift or buy a replacement.
it's a win win for nintendo but not great for the customer. kind of a bummer, i remember the nintendo build quality being the stuff of legends when i was a kid, hearing stories of gameboys being run over by trucks and still working etc
