Linux Gaming
Have you transitioned to Linux yet /v/? What have you been playing on Linux lately?

When will consumers understand that kernel level anticheat is there just to shut up retards who blame the game when they lose and it does not stop hackers?

it's extremely easy to just install mint or bazzite on a thumbdrive and test it out. you dont have to uproot your entire life for a huge permanent OS switch.

if you want very window 10 like look to your OS then you want KDE and Mint doesnt have that. You could install fedora or something. Just look at steam hardware survey and as long as you pick out what you see there it cannto be that niche that you are fucked

Mint is for people who want to use Windows without using Windows, but it's actually kind of more frustrating when it doesn't work like Windows because it's like 90% the same experience

Arch is quite literally the most user friendly because of how fleshed out the wiki is and literally any problem you'll ever run into already has a thread in the forum with step by step instructions on how to fix it. Absolutely no distro will ever

mint is ok, but is a bit behind in drivers and native software versions without some extra tinkering. Never tried Bazzite but it's more up to date, you will be limited with what you can do in Bazzite since it's immutable

Try bazzite but I'd stick with mint or pop os, considering you most likely have a gaming pc pop os which is slightly heavier will run with no issues.
You can always launch virtualbox and try it whenever and for how long you want.

ironically, yeah. once you get arch set up with a DE it stays the fuck out of your way. don't bother with hyprland or other gimmicky shit like that.

i used Linux for 4 years.

don't bother, it's dogshit. The only good Linux is Arch and it's derivatives. I also used a bit of Bazzite on my desktop, it's the biggest meme OS in the Linux world.

Not true actually. The fixed system image actually breaks some native Linux games on steam, I have a script I have to run after every update to unlock and reinstall the missing packages so I can play my games. And besides, the steam deck uses Arch, its just that the system image itself is handled by steam.

Mint is likely the easiest since most troublehsooting will involve Ubuntu and apt. I am on Gentoo and would say that while it and its package manager (which is the only real thing that matters between distros) is the best one it also requires some knowledge.

Gentoo is what you use when you need to waste your time and can't figure out how to break arch enough to have something to repair. :-)

I don't see the point of Gentoo these days unless you use it for its purpose, which is a metadistribution.

Gentoo is super niche, unless you have a specific setup in mind there's no point to installing it over something else.
Installing it gives you bragging rights though.

If you can install arch, you can install Gentoo. Unless you have some mental illness that allows you to work on something for 30 minutes, but makes you foam from the mouth if you spend over a hour.
Gentoo just takes longer to install, extremely long if you actually compile the fat shit like plasma.

I tried, then I ran benchmarks. too much of a performance hit. ~20% on most games, one game event went as far as 97% performance decrease.
Fuck that. Maybe I'll try again in a few years.
