RP in general usually ends up in infidelity. Especially stuff like that. Relationship and erotic roleplay eventually turn into lust for the real person and the ways they can make you feel digitally transcending to reality. It's hard for people to actually separate themselves from the scenarios and the characters they play, so the inevitability of things crossing into weird territory hits. It's just a slippery slope. Would you really want your partner to relationship RP or ERP with other people? It's a much more active approach to seeking out real people than just watching porn. It's basically cheating without the physical part (for the moment.)

Yes, but now we're seeing it from people willingly as they window-shop potential partners on a much more free and larger scale. Before it was really just guys throughout the ages in positions of power and women simply only having the option of the men that lived locally. Now you can just pull up a bunch of apps and sites to find a perfect guy, and women have rights and companies made them work to continue the never ending capitalist gains. Now with women not nearly as lonely as men you can see they're all choosing to be with the small percentage of men that meet their criteria. It's much more different than history just simply from the scale of things.
