I love the series but I am not even caught up with all of the 70+ hour long games they have been releasing, why would I be hyped to play the first one AGAIN?

First game was always the worst entry and it's a rite of passage to SC and the good parts.
Trails fans in general are retarded revisionists and this series deserve to die a painful death.

They wasted their opportunity by not combining FC and SC into one game and trimming down the side quest fat.
It would hook up newcomers on the series and give a reason for veterans to replay it since it won't be such a drag as playing the originals.

it looks good visually but I quite liked the original's presentation and mechanics. I haven't played the newest games (on Reverie but I'm taking break after slogging through CS4) but my friends who have say this remake just uses the newest game's combat systems, which is pretty lame. I thought it was cute how they tied the mechanical iteration of each title to the advancement of orb tech, but I guess that's just flying right out the window with this one.
