The prospect of playing those Nes and SNES ports on the go was compelling in the absence of generally phone availability, let alone the ability to run emulators on them. the battle graphics for that were amazing back in the day when the game was new for a handheld. I was lucky that I saw someone emulating the game at my school or else I wouldn’t have known about it. Bought if later that month to play physically. it looked even fucking better on the gameboy SP. as did other titles like Metroid fusion or Metroid zero mission.


If anything I’m thinking it’s time I jump back into the GBA library because it was like the SNES but a handheld with games made before the industry got butt fucked into what it is now.

I haven't played the GBA version in years but I think Re: COM overall is really good, I think what it does with Riku's mode is actually fun with the duel system, and the voice work is the best the series ever gets. It feels pretty good to run through on replays. I've been meaning to replay the GBA version because of how long its been and the sprite work is absolutely amazing.

Why did they keep the two button limit of the GB? It really couldn't have been that much more expensive to add X and Y. That and squished screen and lack of a soundchip.
