I wanted to play games at 30 fps just to find out most games don't support 30 fps anymore on current gen consoles

Man I think my dad used to have this monitor, is this a dell? I miss this aspect ratio a lot. I was blown away when I was using an older laptop a few years back out of nostalgia with a screen like this and realized how much better it probably was for reading and scrolling through threads. it has some of the advantage of the vertical smart phone screen but without the drawback of it being horizontally retarded which is why every website looks the way it does now. (Boring) it was a good medium. why did we even move to wide screen anyway?
when you play an older game which was made for screens like this, how does it work on modern wide screen displays? Does it stretch the image? Or does it just cut stuff off on the sides? example being something like starwars battlefront 2005 or something from that time period or earlier.

I miss using these old screens especially square CRTs I remember having a lot of fun playing RuneScape or browsing the early internet with those.

Yeah, for me the right screen size is 27in 16:9
Bigger or ultrawide is too much and bellow 24in is too little

Have had a 27", 1440p, 165hz Sceptre monitor for about four years now and have had no issues with it. Ran me $220 when it was brand new, is now around $150. Highly recommend for a cheap-ish 1440p, high refresh rate panel with a 100mm x 100mm VESA mount.

>but still 1440p
Peak stupidity.
Half of those pixels are gonna be in your peripheral vision and are effectively wasted GPU time.
Meanwhile you don't even get 4K line count.

Worse performance and worse picture clarity for a ridiculous price.
The perfect monitor for the absolute moron.

LG has been experimenting with these 'dual stack' monitors in recent years. Not OLED, though. only IPS.

why tho? windows has a built in snap window feature if you're so inclined to do that. at that point it's better to just buy 2 separate monitors.

no, I need less

It seems mostly made for video editing, 3D modeling, CAD, art, system programming. It is the equivalent of two 16:9 monitors stacked vertically. It is just one monitor and doesn't requite two separate connections and two power cables, one single screen with no bevels. Not sure how useful it is for gaming. But LG has been selling various different models of these since 2022-2023.

I'd prefer 19" but I suppose not.

Ayy, one of my old work monitors. Why's the Dell emblem missing? Yes, I do need more for more enjoyment, that model's as basic as it gets.

CRTs only burn in if you leave them on constantly showing the same image.

I need to take the bezels off that and make a retro case mod bondi blue Imac with that as a 2nd screen and a 200mm fan as an intake underneath the little carry handle area but then Id still only have a tiny thermal ceiling for a cooler only good enough for a 65 watt CPU and a 150 watt GPU

you'd see 60fps at a 4:3 resolution

yes, a second one of these so i can code on one screen while shopping for programmer socks on the other.
