I liked Origins though. My only gripe is that Batman still plays the "Murdering a murderer makes you a murderer" schtick at the very end, even though we went through an entire prison level seeing dead cops and technically even killed someone (no spoilers) anyway.

Rocksteady managed to fit the combat, stealth, and chase segments with the Batmobile despite being something new.

It's just not as polished as the other games. If you play them in release order it's super obvious. Lots of little moments that feel off. It was made by a less experienced/talented team with less time and money. A quick and dirty iteration on City while Rocksteady was busy making Knight.
I will say I like the story more than the other games, Batman actually being up against the establishment rather than an extension of the police.

These games are unbeaten in presentation. Knight especially has so many great little moments.

There are no "trilogy improved" version, only the Return to Arkham, which is just Asylum and City. Unfortunately, Knight and Origins never had graphic improvements till this day.

And about the Return to Arkham, I'm in the minority when i say I liked it.
I said "like it", not love it, because I still think it was an wasted opportunity. They could fix so many continuity mistakes with simple steps, such as:

Huh, I got the Return to Arkham but I wasn't aware of those changes.
Worth mentioning is that the game also credits Bill Finger, the real creator of Batman who created characters like the Joker, Robin, Catwoman, and so on. Bob Kane took all the credits from him.

A remake is too much. Asylum and City are fine, Origins deserves a remaster to fix some of the bugs, and if you're a consolefag, you won't be able to get the complete package with DLCs unless you hack your console.

you can't move batman easily on wasd, on controller you have analog movement so you can flow into a 180 degree strike pretty easily and get out of multiple thug AIs surrounding you.
on pc you can't do this without turning the camera around so there is more skill involved plus you're more aware of the thug AI

2. make combo rewards (power moves) more powerful so it's a bigger reward for higher risk type of deal
3. reset the speed whenever you get hit (which breaks the combo)

If you remind yourself it isn’t canon to the admittedly good Arkham stories, it’s a very solid narrative with a lot of good moments for each Bat.
The combat is fun because each character plays differently and there’s a lot of enemy variety.
The worst part is the gear and damage numbers but these become irrelevant honestly and it’s more of a skill check than an item check.
Plus the night patrols are almost roguelite in their design which scratches the Bamham itch when you just want a quick experience of zipping around, stealthing, interrogating, fighting, etc.

The combat is fucking awful BECAUSE they play different. If you're not playing X character, you're just arbitarily worse at stealth, at hacking, at combat. Arkham let you have all your options at all times outside of fear takedown you had to earn (but doing so was trivial). You're playing less than a quarter of batman in this game. Only Batgirl has beat downs ffs. A universal mechanic. Even fucking harley Quinn, a character they clearly didn't even try when designing, had takedowns.

PC. The main three games have community patches that give texture updates and community bug fixes. Origins doesn't have an equivalent IIRC but there is a way to fan host its multiplayer, it sees action from time to time.

After two games of fighting the joker I was excited to finally fight a different villain and it being a much lesser one like black mask was double cool. then they couldn't fucking help themselves though so the game turned into a joker origin as well. then they made a fourth game and continues to keep joker as a main antagonist despite him being dead. 4 games of joker as the big bad gave me severe batman game fatigue

Most people just think it's a downgrade, but not awful or hateable. I think it does everything just a bit worse than the main trilogy. It's also off-putting to listen to Batman and Joker with different VAs, though Troy Baker was a reasonably good replacement.
I love the Christmas setting though -- wish we could have had one of the main games with that setting. It'd be the best of both worlds.

They didn't because generally people didn't like the remasters.
Proof of that is that the Switch version uses the original, so they didn't even bother spending money to do the port.
