If you wanted to talk about shmups you would have said something.
You only made this thread to post your moe cunny waifu, and it should be locked and you should be banned.
Too much shmupping recently, my finger hurts.
That aside, maybe I can try getting into Gradius with that new port. I do like the stage design and the power bar, as well as the overall style, but I really dislike the checkpoint system.

It's a Treasure game. If you don't like giant wheel bosses, it's not for you. Still has my favorite boss in the entire series, though. Big Core MK IV, end boss of the stage 2 boss rush.
Any new shumps or shrimp collections worth picking up on steam? Recently bought gunbirds 1 & 2 out of curiosity, definitely scratched that quick pick up and play arcade itch.

Looks good, I know they may sound stupid since they're all straight arcade releases, but I'm surprised they didn't throw in nes/msx/pc engine console ports for the fuck of it like they did with contra. Also hopes this means we get a parodius comp in the future.
has gradius aged terribly? in the process of getting a 1cc right now and some sections are just terrible. every boss is shit and there's some sections that just carpet you with bullets so if you don't have a full loadout you just die outright. Even playing the NA version with easier recovery it still feels near impossible in some sections. Stage 2 feels harder than stage 3 just because there's a turret swarm that cover the screen in bullets while you're dealing with tight corridors. either you have shield to deal with it or you die

Gradius is iconic and does some things right, but overall it's not a well designed game compared to what came after it.
Mind you, that's a 80s shmup.

Its not for casuals, old gradius is all about masochism and offline epeens, cool if you are into that though.
It has aged perfectly for what its aiming to do

Most arcade games won't be easy. Real question is which kind of difficulty you like, imo Zero Wing had a lot of these fuck you bullets coming out at high speed that wouldn't be difficult to dodge if you knew they were coming.

This happens with platformers but not with stgs for me. Using a stick helps a lot, actually its part of why I started playing them for longer stretches of time.
>Nii-chan, can you please pause your Inbachi grinding for a moment and play Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ with me? >I really want to play Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ with you tonight Nii-chan...
Well?
I think I want to get a MagicX Zero 40 after all, the vertical screen looks amazing for arcade shmups. Has anyone tried it, how are the controls?
Wish they had gone with a Linux-based OS instead of Android though.
More shmups should embrace completely deranged and retarded control schemes like akashicverse which have 8 fightan motion input moves.
I need at least 4 moves not counting main shot, minimum.

G-Darius has the capture mechanic as replacement for regular bombs, although you can detonate your captured enemy as a bomb or turn it into a kamehameha laser.
I'm stuck on this one and can't beat the last (I think) level, I keep getting rekt by the boss on stage 6 and I make it to stage 7 with no resources left. I did enjoy it quite a bit and made this portrait of the pilot to use as my Armored Core 6 pilot pic

I'm a casual shmup player and I had little problem 1ccing PCE version of Gradius 1, it's a very reasonable game compared to all of its sequels except Gaiden. Maybe try that one, better music too.

lol, it was made in the Armored Core 6 emblem editor. The reason it looks the way it does is cause it's a trace of pic related and the AC6 editor only lets you use a number of different shapes to "build" an image rather than drawing it.
