But the Shader Compilation process only happens the first time you boot up the game.
Unreal5's problem isn't building the shader cache. It's just that Unreal runs like ass thanks to Epic engine bloat and the developers using the engine being bad.

The last of us 2 took like half an hour to compile shaders on my midrange 2020 PC. And then it kept stuttering like shit. It's a game built for 2013 hardware on consoles.
I refuse to upgrade for games that don't optimize. Not paying for devs incompetence

In order:
-Publisher: I have a personal blacklist, aside the usual suspects, some publishers cannot be trusted at all.
-Developer: Some companies develop nothing but trash or do half-assed remasters
-Popularity: Was featured in some gaming channel or went viral, clear FOTM soon to be abandonware bullshit. Game Awards are also a clear indicator that you are about to play slop.
-Derivative: I like Roguelites and Metroidvanias but enough is enough, games that mimic other popular games or play it too safe.
-Value: Collections that offer little to no value or old remasters sold at the price of a new game. New games sold at $80 or higher or that demand $200 - $500 for a complete edition or to get the "full" value
-Quality: There are visual indicators and some times demos that tell you the game is going to be pretty bad. Schizocore is hard to do right. Sometimes the game that looks ironically like shit is just that.
-Story / Themes: "You are part of le resistance / Heist / We are the 99% / " so tiresome
-Others with exceptions:

I'm starting to think PC gaming is getting so shit that we're going back to the days of Windows Vista days in reality. Everyone loves to talk about how PC gaming 'just works'. Yet I've had non stop issues since building a 9800x3D/RTX 5090 build, as in all my games just crash. There's no solutions to the problems 99% of the time. The closest I've heard to a reliable answer is that apparently X3D chipsets with Nvidia cards are a fucking up combo disaster.
