Uh, well it's sort of different from the others so just know that. Particularly with it's combat. Also just emulate the first two the remaster's are "pretty" and that's about it. Good luck. Three is my least favorite one. Yeah I liked four more then three sue me.

Give brown boy the true fire rune, he's the best suited for it. Knight girl has absolutely abysmal fire affinity, and eye patch man isn't terrible with it, but he's better with the rune he starts with.

They arent direct sequels to each other but the stories are connected and there are multiple playable characters reappearing across games. You can still play them as standalone games but youll get a lot more out of the story by playing them in release order.
