I loved the base game but the DLC just looks so fucking ass. I don't want to fight the King of Riddles guy, I don't want to fight the blue witch lady, I don't want to travel back in time. Nothing, it was great. Chipping away at the final boss reminded me of fighting Eigong in Nine Sols, I loved it. The Pale Knight is one of the sickest weapons I've wielded in one of these soulsborne style games, I want to have sex with it.

The only thing that Overture suffers from is the unfortunate reality of being released after Elden Ring raised the bar for the genre, and Shadow of the Erdtree raised the bar for DLCs in the genre, making LoP feel a little dated in comparison.

Yeah, I didn't mean the bar for me personally, cause I didn't even finish Erdtree, it was too big and directionless and I found it kind of boring. Overture's more focused, directed experience is more my speed (and I vastly prefer parryslop to rollslop anyway). But in general, Erdtree is BIGGER and MORE than people were used to and, for better or worse, it has changed the way general audiences are going to judge soulsborne DLCs for a long time to come.

As Soulslikes go LoP is just really bland and doesn't have a lot going on. The game is highly polished, they put a lot of effort into it, but at the end of the day the gameplay gives you very little to think about, build options don't really matter, there's little in the way of playstyle variety and for the most part the game just wants you to parry everything while making enemy attacks deliverately misleading. So everything boils down to trial and error memorisation of parry timing per enemy attack. I have better things to do with my life

For me it wasn’t even the difficulty of the DLC, it was the fact they gave everything a gorillion health, and 90% of the new enemies/bosses killed you in 1-2 unblocked hits even with high Vit, so eventually I just got fed up and dropped the difficulty

Found some pretty cool weapons combos though.

This is just factually untrue. The only bosses with insane health pools are the main bosses of the second and third chapters, and the second chapter one takes way more damage while red so he has normal hp pool really when that is taken into account, and the third one does fuck all damage to you and takes a ton of damage once you break his body parts and lets you chain deathblows.

It's the best Souls DLC ever, since it has an actual plot and ties to the main game.

I played it and liked it, but it's not replayable at all. If in Souls I immediately wanted to try playing another class, then here you play it once, changing the build to elemental damage as the situation demands, and forget about it. I'd like more.

First and last boss are great but between them is two meh minibosses, a really annoying miniboss (green suit guy) and a big boss where if he does a red attack right at the start you can rape him into oblivion and if he doesn't you're in for a bad time. They give you a mediocre jet spear instead of the cool jet hammer that chick has. The whole plot is about saving Romeo in the past after you've already been tricked into killing him in a rather gruesome way in the present during the course of the main game, which makes everything feel fairly pointless.

Still pretty great though. Worth it for the gunblade alone.
