because the game ended up with tv show disease. the first 2 games/seasons are decent enough, then execs smell a franchise and starting churning out more games/seasons that are exponentially worse until the game/show is either cancelled or put on hiatus and remade/rebooted and continues the course of getting exponentially worse and so on and so on.

Everything up until Rogue was good. They were all backed by Novels as well which were great. Then the teams / writers changed, the directors changed, everything changed and these new people tried to imitate what they thought they understood about the Desmond series and they completely fucked it up. I listen to the AC 1 to AC Black Flag audiobooks frequently. They're mega.

Assassins creed 1-unity were all connected both in the modern world and in the past. Like how assassin's Creed rogue leads directly into unity.

The main story took a tumble in ac3 and never recovered.

It's the only series that would make for a good remake. Sort of like a weird Harry Potter like merchandise thing. But obviously it's too late for that.

Because the original creators wanted to end the series together with the Desmond storyline in the third game but Ubisoft saw the golden goose that AC was and said no, then they gradually fired everybody who was originally in the making of the series (Corey May, Patrice Désilets, etc). Basically, the series had no direction after Desmond's death, and whoever came in charge didn't know what it was doing beyond trying to make a profit from the IP.

Tbh you can crouch since AC1, just not crouch walk. When you think about it crouch walking wouldn't add that much to the old games since walking is silent and there isn't that much low cover. I think the more damning omission is the ability to properly distract guards before Rev added custom bombs.

There's multiple dev teams working simultaneously on AC games and releasing in rotation, it's part of why there's so much fatigue towards the brand and why they're so formulaic. They saw AC2 sold gangbusters, so they made AC2 in different time periods.

Replaying Ezio's trilogy 10 years after its release made me realize how retarded the plot and writing was. The games had wonderful atmosphere, though.

Oddysea Is better than all previous AC games. Assassin games without even basic stealth mechanics. In Oddysea i can croutch and hide behind cover.

AC2 works fine on PC, just replayed AC1-Revelations last year, though I pirated them all.
I dunno why, but the AC1 up for sale is busted as shit, constant crashes and freezes. The pirated version works perfectly fine when you turn on v-sync and lock your fps to 60.

because Assassin's Creed 2 was the peak of the series, peak storytelling, peak music, peak characters and gameplay, and they had a couple games after that where they could aura farm with Ezio, and they also added in that fun multiplayer mode in Brotherhood, after that they made the mistake of making Assassins Creed 3 boring, and it unravelled from there, Black Flag was great too though

Unity was the last good game but it ran like garbage because it was rushed. Syndicate inserted tranny shit into the franchise and Origins started the RPG trend and it's been downhill since then. The biggest thing is that the fanbase was at odds with the games. It's incredibly fascinating, when you get down to it. The way they managed to entirely eat around all the Modern and Precursor stuff, and come away with a believed-to-be-intact mental image of the games and their characters, completely discarding the rest in all regards except to complain about it. It's an indelible part of their favorite games and characters, which they were somehow demanding to be all removed.

These self-destructive demands encouraged Ubisoft to start taking a hacksaw to the series, in an attempt to maintain its popularity amongst the general gaming audience, and culminated in the utterly baffling choice to shitcan the Juno story they had been working on for like, a dozen games, all because somehow nobody knew who the fuck she was--even when the Sage was the main fucking villain of the historical plot for Black Flag and Unity.

Can't really be a great series when you're kneecapping yourself for retards.
