Aliens vs Predator 2 vs AVP Classic 99 vs AVP 2010 , Colonial Marines, what are its pros & cons?

>Unwelcome guests
Probably the most Aliens of the missions copying Aliens step by step also the longest having 4 parts and lasting an entire hour even when you do know where to go. Seamlessly add the Predator to the formula without feeling out of place.
>Collateral Damage
The sewer level but without water. Tries to do Unwelcome Guests 2.0 Nostromo in sewer but it's too short of a level to do the whole build up correctly.
>Betrayal
Literally Die Hard 1 / Half Life 1, every single indoors FPS about shooting humans and ocassionally a few aliens.

After this the levels become really short. It starts suffering from RPG syndrome where 60% of the game was well paced and then it starts rushing towards the end skipping entire areas.
>A Long Detour
Sewer but actually scary with no lights and instead full of water. The Praetorian part was nice but it could have been better like in Colonial Marines ironically.
>Price of Admission
Unwelcome Guest's Predator 2.0 but this time he can actually deal damage to you.
How the hell was I suppose to know to jump off the elevator? One of the shortest missions. The fact you don't fight the predator in that giant open space shows how badly the Predator AI is implemented.
>Loose Ends
2nd shortest level possible. Only level where you can save marines ... and only level where you find out someone really fucking loved giving you game overs for killing NPCs that can't get out of the goddamn way.
>Savior
Too short. Predator level was way longer. Should have fought the queen twice; including with the exo suit. Should have fought the big matriarch
Decent setpieces if only you fought outside to get a sense of scale.

Cheat codes could make the game replayable by playing as exo-suit, marine, predator in each other's campaigns, except for Alien who is incompatible.

Alien is a cool monster, but everything else about the setting is (intentionally) boring and mundane. It's a really forced series. Pairing it with Predator was the best thing they could do, but it's still all too limiting and simple

The existence of all the comics and a really popular tabletop prove you wrong. Alien can stand just fine on its own. And what the fuck is 'forced series' supposed to mean?

I never got to play Primal Hunt, why did it suck anyway? I can't even remember why because my local vidya magazine gave it an extremely short review back in the day, like three paragraphs long I think. Should I give it a chance whenever I'll get into mood to replay AVP?

It has no potential and room to grow because it all orbits one random semi sapient monster with which you can only tell one single story. First random monster movie was successful so they keep making more of them and various adjacent media which is retarded, because setting was designed for one off, particular story and not to be a massive franchise. It's artificially forced franchise on a setting not suited to be a franchise.

This is completely contrary to various sandbox settings like tabletop rpgs ones or Warhammers which are explicitly designed to be interesting, open ended and able to contain tons of completely unrelated and varied stories and events and not just one particular one.

Xenomorph is just one monster, it's as retarded as if entire D&D (with all it's settings) was resolving around Owlbear only and every story had to be all about fucking Owlbear.

Without Xenomorph, "Alien" setting is worthless and has nothing else going on for it. A small, boring little setting stretched thin

Same reasons why Contract JACK was panned by the NOLF lovers. Too short, too many enemies, too hard, level design exits too confusing even by AVP1 & AVP2 standards.

In the Alien campaign in Primal Hunt you genuinely have to look above your head and notice a crumbling grate in order to go through it while the level is shaking and exploding around you. You also have to break some electric panels and if you missed them then tough luck you got to backtrack the whole level.

You want the true expansions to AVP2? Play the custom maps/campaigns, start with this one:

Pred > Marine > Xeno

That's because I like exploring with the Pred and using his exotic weaponry. His stealth sections are well done too, far better than the xeno. The campaign only kinda falls apart when you reach the xeno part and it turns into starship troopers. I think you kill like 60 aliens in one level at one point.
I wish the Xeno had as many interesting locations as the Predator, the Predator really gets to explore a lot of locations throughout all 3 games and find some neat stuff such as temples.

Xeno could be genuinely good if they allowed for proper stealth, infestation mechanics, an objective to infect a spaceship and if they went off canon and gave you abilities like mind control, laying traps and reverting between forms like being able to play as 30 facehuggers just jumping on whoever you want when you want as opposed to a select person hidden in a corner somewhere.

I think the Survival & Evac multiplayer modes translated to singleplayer could really put the xeno above the marine's campaign.

Alien earth is pretty meh so far, to be honest. It's way too obvious that hulu is a shitty poorfag company with zero money, so the director constantly had to make "artistic" choices, when it came to the alien. It also looked goofy when the alien ran, that chase scene where he chased the brother, like wtff, bro..

The blue-collar miners, trashmen workers asking about the bonus situation with a goddamn orange cat on board and wagecucking young adult kids pretending they're hot shit with "state of the art" weapons? with a whooping 9mm caliber bullet that somehow pierces armour xD? with a motion tracker tracking only 180 degrees and a whole 30 meters!! 30 METERS YOU GUYS. SO ADVANCED in the year 2179. :)))

>Pairing it with Predator was the best thing they could do, but it's still all too limiting and simple
The Predator was basically just an orc with super powers.
The Warhammer setting is inspired by the fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien, Poul Anderson and Michael Moorcock

The AVP game series wise is only recognize for 1 unique thing; being an FPS with multiple species campaigns like most RTS games and even then ... you don't get to play in factional campaigns with different tools for each faction like it's normal of RTS games. And FPS and melee action game wise again it's lacking.
The AVP series is a lot like Deus Ex where its main advantage is that it delivers everything in 1 game even if it's 33% weaker than the others of its genre.

They really should have did like Capcom and separated the franchise into spin offs, pretty much like Predator.
The problem with AVP was that there's no cannon fodder predators and instead like Aliens1986 the Aliens do turn into cannon fodder outside of the praetorians & predaliens and queens.
AVP1 the movie ironically tried to correct this by making each alien drone almost as powerful as the predators.

Blame! which inspired severely from Giger's Shafts, MC Escher, James Herbert's The City // Kowloon Walled City, Hellraiser could be a nice inspiration for Alien, just like many wanted the city in Alien to look like Blade Runner.
Blame! could have been better with the penisheads over the phantom of the opera masks and Japan's own theater masks.
In my tasteful opinion Blame! is the true prequel to Alien 1979 and not Prometheus+Covenant

to me the central theme of alien / aliens is that large companies will 100% exploit and kill people if they believe there is mo ey to be made from it and that you are ultimately powerless to stop them since they can just throw unlimited amounts of money / resources at doing whatever they want and never get justice.
its super depressing sci-fi dystopia at its core, the alien just became a mascot because it has a cool design.

AVP2's went 180 degrees from AVP1. The multiplayer maps were open as hell which completely murdered the Alien.
AVP2's Alien NEEDED the pounce, that's why it was given the pounce.
AVP1's Alien didn't have the pounce cause it didn't need it. Its speed made up for it. All the AVP1 multiplayer maps follow the same level design of the campaign; being claustrophobic mirrored labyrinths or 8-shaped labyrinths. Not to mention dark as hell. AVP2 Aliens had fun whenever Leadworks, Verloc, Alley and Quarantine was on.

Whenever pic related played RIP Aliens, might as well turn it into a predator vs human match.

It's about as worth playing as playing Primal Hunt, the answer is no. It's not a smooth experience.
I guess if your standards are low and you can see the good side in everything then... there's a mod that changes everything to Lurker aliens.
Colonial Marines is filled with locked doors that lead to nothing. ACM does have that section with The Raven alien in the sewers where you're forced to weld the door behind you or else you die.
It also has 2 DLCs where in 1 of the DLCs it basically plays like Isolation where you're completely unarmed. I guess there's also a rhyno alien and queen alien fight... no predaliens tho, there's no predators on LV-426. There is a space jockey area that's covered in weyland yutani mercs, scientists, computers which kinda makes it look shitty.

The fact The Company/Weyland Yutani keep hiring mediocre to bad studios that miraculously pull through (except when they don't) is in itself ironic mimicrying, reality mimicking fiction.
Isolation, AVP1, AVP2 = Alien, Aliens
AVP 2010, Colonial Marines = Alien 3, Alien 4
