Video games - good or bad?
I feel like video games made me a junkie. I was hooked up on them since I was like 8, played a lot until I was 26.

Right now I’m a recovering gamer, I rarely play, only if I really feel like it.

As I stopped playing it dawned on me how much life I wasted on this shit, and how retarded (life wise) video games made me.

Do you think video games are good? I feel like they are cancer stealing your precious life away. They disable your mind, they make you weak.

It's the exact opposite for me. I have a solid career, socialize quite often and I had a few relationships. Most anons would call themselves "successful" if they had my life. Yet all I want is to retreat to my home and play video games all day. Video games are far more exciting than real life.

If it wasn't games you would be addicted to something else. You are just blaming anything but yourself for your poor decisions.

Thanks for the armchair analysis, Dr. Freud. What makes me unhappy is the fact I can't spend more time playing vidya. I don't feel fulfilled by activities most people chase all their lives. I feel most alive when playing video games.

Okay give me your amazing ecstatic hobbies that are better than playing games. Doing sports? You can do that in VR, 11 table tennis is just actual table tennis. No sneed for the real thing. Hanging out with friends? You can do that in a game, same thing basically. Doing art? Not that fun honestly, it's mostly just hard work and frustration, only romanticized by people who never seriously did art.

I dropped out of high school because of wow. I'm okay now but it made my life much harder than it had to be
I don't regret it much because everyone is coping in their own way. Even the most "successful" people I know seem to post drivel on linkedin and otherwise seek validation (as if trying to fill a void) or are drinking/drugging themselves into an early grave
Seems like modern society is just about everyone filling their time by doing things that are fake and gay. Maybe the ones that are actually healthy are the ones who throw themselves fully into a meaningful career? Most hobbies and jobs just seem to be cope

Having fun improves my life. If I wasn't having fun, my life would be worse. And by that metric Onirism with porn mods that I just played recently made my life better

I been playing since I was 7
Video games are the most loser hobby of them all, and video game addiction destroys you
Movies & shows & documentaries and so on alike get a slight pass because often times they can be genuine kino, while not really taking up that much of your time

But how many people do you know that have spent more than 5000 hours Minimum on a game? For me it would be a 5 digit number atleast. Gaming also has a negative impact every single part of your physical body in negative manner. Your muscles will start to get weaker from lack of physical activity, your eyes will worsen, your ears will get worse, your posture will be ass, your brain will get rotten, chances are you will forget to eat and drink most of the time, your hands & wrists are always at risk of injury, your legs & feet survive a little but again they will just be weak and weaker. I really dont have much anatomical knowledge to go in depth but in essence your body will rot if you stay on your chair all day and dont control yourself and take care of yourself properly.

If you manage to keep yourself healthy physically, you will still have the side effect of putting in too much in vidya and too little in life. While you are off gaming into your fake worlds, your peers are out there making connections, gaining life knowledge, improving social skills, putting in work and so on. All things that you will have to catch up with eventually, assuming you care of course

For how much time you spent in gaming you could have spent it on anything more productive and interesting to help you out in life, with way better results and rewards.

Despite all the yapping I still love gaming and honestly I couldnt see living my life any different way the past 15 years, but you shouldn't treat gaming as anything more than a tool for fun and to relax and enjoy. They should be the lowest priority, something you do at the end of the day. Again assuming you care of course

Video games can be as addictive as any other vice, the only difference is that it's also the easiest one for a kid to access. The only thing I can think of that's similar would be the internet/social media, kids just aren't meant for this shit.
