Why couldn't the mod authors just borrow an idea from the STALKER bugfix mods and make the more ambiguous corrections like the Redbelly mine into an optional module that you can choose to install or not?

Zone Reclamation Project has options to add a sleeping bag for skipping time and gear repair services to the game when previously your guns would just eventually become useless. I like these options but the important thing is that they are strictly optional components that are toggled off by default to preserve the original experience.
Why the Unofficial Patch crew couldn't do something like this is beyond me.

NGO was more of a post ww2 "What if Nazi Germany Won" style space faction, taking it straight and serious, whereas Aria: The Escalation was a WW1 German Empire style "spread and conquer people culturally because we're just that much better, btw eat our bratwurst". It was a lot less serious and political than NGO and more of a tongue in cheek fun mod with anime-war girls.

Certain popular mods in the Starsector mod list had game lists that checked for the presence of either and would either ctd your game or set all your relations to all factions to -100 if you had either installed. The comments in the code about those runtime exceptions were fucking unhinged too. Most of it had been scrubbed from the internet by now sadly. There was more, less harmful autism in that game, with mods affecting other mods because certain modders vehemently believed that particular modding factions added ships that were too powerful, so having two mods of a certain kind installed would result in the ships of the other being severely nerfed. It often led to reports that treated it as a bug instead of an "improvement", which only further bruised the egos of whoever had done it.
