Genuinely, what went wrong with TOTK (and BOTW)? I'll tell you. The stupid unfun weapon breaking mechanic that supposedly makes the "game" more challenging.

BotW is fine. Its a good game. TotK failed because of the core building mechanics. BotW required you to run/glide to places and took time, but you were getting familiar with the world and getting a personal experience with it. TotK made the world 2.5 times bigger, but also made it so you can just fly over everything. Add on the shitty grinding and TotK ended up being a nice sandbox, but bland as hell.

Breath of the Wild is fine, there is nothing wrong with the weapon durability mechanic. Tears of the Kingdom is garbage because the "solution" they came up with to fix the non-problem totally ruined the entire game.

The equipment breaking only enhances the experience, just like in STALKER and System Shock 2.
It also encourages exploration, experimentation, and planning things ahead. Things I know the Fortnite generation to suck at.
