I don't know, I stopped paying attention when we hit the drought after the first raid and it felt like the next content was lolgobbos but with kinda sorta the main story happening in the background?

I wanted to enjoy it and be excited but I just can't really find the hype. Gobbo town had fun music and the art style was enjoyable but it was cluttered and visually messy. Raid had the same problems, boss fights were enjoyable but the "Large sprawling city with nooks and crannies for a raid" had all the same normal issues. When there's 0 loot or reason to explore but 8 gajillion mobs packs, with the added sheer chaos of lfr runs, makes it hard to enjoy.

I have no idea what's going on and that it feels like we aren't

If it weren't for the Tauren and the BE, the horde would be the niggest faction in all of gaming.

I'd long been falling out of love with the game, but a major hit to any desire to keep playing was doled out during BfA.
8.2, when asked why Tyrande wasn't in Nazjatar helping fight Azshara (you know, the woman she has a 10,000+ year ongoing conflict with), they just answered that "she had had her vengeance in 7.1, so she has no reason to be in Nazjatar." 7.1 was Darkshore. The gay shit where she gets Night Warrior powers and fights Nathanos for a bit before he smugly chuckles and leaves.
Then all that was left going into Shadowlands was playing with friends, and that pretty much just boiled down to doing m+ with two friends and two of my friend's guild members, which were usually either geriatric and couldn't do basic mechanics, or were bitter and annoying.

retail, on the other hand, has been dead since at least shadowlands. fixing a few gameplay issues and adding a couple of useful features does not undo the complete and utter destruction of the game's fundamental gameplay and story.
