Games like Mario Tennis straight up crash when I run it on ParaLLEl and there’s still graphical issues if I use Mupen64plus so I’m gonna have to agree with OP on this one.

Yes. One of the worst libraries a "major" console has ever had. If it weren't for the praise for the Nintendo brand, it would be alongside things like 3DO today.
Mario 64, which is one of the games that runs "well" on that piece of shit hardware, has input lag that varies between 80ms and 120ms. These numbers are pathetic, but in the world of the N64, it was among the best you could get.

I've heard the only reason it's "bad" is because it's built around a higher pitched "kid" voice, so it doesn't work well for adults. I also watched someone play Densha de Go 64 (a japanese train simulator) which also uses a mic, and it worked fine enough.

even a good number of Nintendo's own franchises missed the system entirely and few others wanted to develop for it when PS1 existed for 2 years already by that time and was appreciably better

Separate issue. I know Nintendo would probably price N64 ROMs above the $1-$5 USD range that they are realistically worth. One battle at a time, though.
