>Reading early 2000's game reviews
>Everything is about people loving games
>Even games with jank could get universal praise
>Stuff like Max Payne, Bloodlines, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and so on are considered must plays by anyone with gaming hardware
>late 2000's happen, now its all about ad revenue and the negahol farming algorithm pushing hateclicks
>THE GAME YOU LIKE SUCKS.png becomes the norm
>Also american journos become openly racist against the japanese. Like "two bombs werent enough" comments because they, shock of shocks, made another jrpg type stuff.

I feel like that much negativity for nearly 20 years has to just be damaging to the spirit of a man. You know what i mean? before the algotrash things used to be so much nicer and happier. Don't you miss it? when we werent constantly pushed by megacorpos to be mad and thus easier to corral and direct?

I found an old gaming magazine from my childhood, a reporter went to comiket in 2003 and interviewed some developers for fun and played their games, including zun and touhou 7

I'll get mad because I enjoy it. I like participating in the chaos and shitflinging, and outing paid shills.
What I will NOT do, however, is spend my money. Nuh uh. That will require an actual quality videogame, which the current state of the AAA industry cannot seem to provide.
You want to turn my videogame board into /pol/? Fine, I'm still not buying LMAO. That's my motto.

>Early 2000's
>Journalists were in control and could say what they want as publishers had limited ways to advertise besides TV ads
>Then the internet started consolidating under a handful of corporations like Google and Facebook
>Suddenly publishers had more options
>Journalists started to struggle, leading to them having to please publishers for ad revenue and early copies, which in term became bribery in exchange for positive scores
>Journalists began giving dogshit games praises as a result
>This eroded the trust of their fans
>Amateur reviewers started gaining traction, further complicating things
>Eventually leads to the rise of influencers
>Pushlishers now have several cheap forms of advertisement via streaming sites and social media
>Influencers have become their bribe monkey
>Gaming journalism is dying or dead because they burned bridges and are no longer useful for anyone... except of course fanboy faggotry who only wants the funny numbers

here's how I see it
>internet used to be for smarter and more sophisticated people
>these people enjoy positive attention, hanging with people and sharing hobbies
>internet becomes more accessible
>introduce a wave of low IQ retards
>these people are always starving for attention, good or bad
>they realize negative attention is way easier to get, problem is you'll get beaten up in real life for it
>internet is the perfect platform to remain anonymous and distant from strangers while still spouting negative bullshit to millions
>now we live in an era of constant negativity online and retard spam bullshit
>with internet consuming a large part of people's lives, it becomes harder to separate it from reality
